Agents on duty of the Tax Section of Fuerteventura Airport, under the functional dependence of the Administrator of Customs and II.EE. of the Tax Agency, has arrested a man on July 31 for a crime of theft, for stealing high-end perfumes in the duty-free shops of Fuerteventura airport.
The investigation began after the complaint of several businesses in the restricted area, which warned about the repeated disappearance of products of great value. The complainant repeatedly entered the commercial area of the airport using a valid boarding pass and took advantage of his stay to commit the thefts before travelling to another island.
Subsequently, he went to duty free stores, from where he stole perfumes of recognized brands without being detected. He then boarded inter-island flights, evading security checks by security personnel.
The arrest took place on July 31, when the individual was trying to leave Fuerteventura Airport carrying five high-end perfumes, valued at a total of 750 euros. These pieces were part of a series of thefts that, according to the first estimates, would exceed 2,600 euros in accumulated value.
In view of the Events that occurred, the airport's Fiscal and Border Section proceeded to initiate Police proceedings for an alleged continuous crime of theft. The detainee was immediately placed at the disposal of the Guard Court of Puerto del Rosario.
At the same time, the authorities are keeping investigations open in order to fully clarify the facts, without ruling out further arrests
