The health waiting list in Fuerteventura drops by 28%
#1
Radio Sintonia:

The health waiting list in Fuerteventura drops by 28%.

This morning, we received on Radio Sintonía the director of the Fuerteventura Health Area, Tomás Pérez, who has transferred the progress of the center in terms of waiting lists, which have fallen by 28%. In addition, he has assured that the average waiting time of patients has gone from 80 days to 56.

However, the director of the Fuerteventura Health Area has declared that "the situation continues to be critical" regarding the lack of staff in some services of the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, despite having incorporated more than 20 specialists in the last 6 months and having new additions pending.

On the other hand, Tomás Pérez has echoed the lack of blood reserves of practically all groups and has launched an appeal to the entire population to donate blood whenever possible.

Tamara - In my experience, perhaps just by bad luck because of the specialities needed, the waiting times have increased! The waiting time for an ordinary doctor's appointment at Corralejo Centro Salud is dire as well - currently running at 18-20 days for my doctor!

A friend (full resident) is at odds with his doctor at the Salud in Corralejo.
1/ Can he ask for a change of doctor.if so how.
2/ Is there a centre in La Oliva and/or Lajares
3/ If there is a centre in La Oliva a/ Can he just re-register there.
b/ Is anyone using it
Any thoughts positive or negative appreciated.

Registered with Spanish Health System, yes, you can change your GP, but once you change, you need to stay for a minimum of 3 months.

Yes, Lajares and La Olivia both have Health Centres.

Not 100% sure how you actually make a change, but visit Lajares or La Oliva and ask at the reception. I'm sure there will be a form to fill in.

Strongly advise that you seek recommendations as to each of those centres or it might be frying pan to fire.

Tom.

Could always change doctor at Corralejo. We are with Dr. Mayelin Guerra Perez and nurse Goretti Herrera Rodriguez and they are both excellent and speak English.

Interesting Tom! Dra Mayelin refuses to speak English with me, or to try to work with my limited Spanish, insists on me bringing a translator! I don't actually have a problem with that - it is my responsibility to ensure no language misunderstandings, just strange the difference in treatment! Goretti is amazing!

A few years ago I changed doctor at Corralejo, I took a letter, in Spanish, to reception, asking to change and within 5 minutes all was done. I was put on Dra Miriam's list - she was absolutely amazing with perfect English. Shame she moved on.

A third party told me that if you don,t speak Spanish then even if you are registered at La Oliva they will send you down to Corry.
My friend has no Spanish,Nada.
I will suggest the writing of the letter then its up to him
