Website forum functionality - How to remove the announcement banner

Sorry mods, I didn't want to start a new thread. The search proved fruitless.

Can someone explain how to remove the banner message that I'm getting please.

Guessing it's non-removeable to allow people to easily find the more important info quickly, and to update people who might be coming to the site for the first time in a while. 

It's astonishing to me, but there really are people out there who were completely blindsided by the lockdown and weren't expecting or prepared for this at all, so it's probably best to make sure the information is front and center and can't be easily dismissed accidentally without reading it or with a misplaced click.

Good question Milestone. You can't. Unfortunately the announcement part is non removable and we all have to cope with it to make sure everyone else and his cat know about the lock-down that is happening right now. Hope you understand.

No, no, it's of no consequence to me whatsoever. I'd thought that I may have clicked on something in the settings. Thinking that it was self induced, I wanted to get rid of it.
