You'll have a great time, BdV is one of the nicest urbanisations.  We're there in June.  And I'm hoping to grab a week or so in Fuerteventura in May on my own.

Can’t wait tbh, 11 nights, just a drop & flop, I know the beach won’t compare to Fuerte, first ever solo holiday, can’t wait, may DM you with a few questions / tips if ok?

Hi Bedouin

Reading your post of naturist / textile civil strife really shows what a unique tolerant place Fuerteventura is.  However, it does seem to catch a few people out, who take to trip advisor to vent their outrage. Here is a section from a review of the JP in Esquinzo.

"The beach below the hotel was one of the cleanest beaches we’ve ever been on! And, perhaps due to it being December, it wasn’t very busy. We were, as I had read elsewhere, occasionally interrupted by ‘naked grownups’ walking up and down the beach. We weren’t sure this was appropriate for the family section and would appreciate the nudists being reminded to stay in their allocated area. They do in the hotel and, while the beach isn't sectioned by walls, I’m pretty sure the map shows certain sections for each type of party. Each to their own but not really what we wanted to see."

While fairly moderate compared to some rants, it raises some interesting questions.

1. What are these 'Family sections' and 'Allocated areas' on the beach that she speaks of?  Have things changed since my last visit?

2. Where do I get a copy of this map?

3. As the JP do not own the beach below the hotel, who is going to remind naturists to stay on their patch?

4. I wonder what she actually wanted to see?

OK, generally naturists stick to areas either side of the Princess Hotels, but there is no written rule that prevents some overlap. She also makes no mention of textiles that constantly promenade through the areas that se considers to be a naturist section.
In the years that I have been visiting, I have only witnessed one incident of conflict when a fully clothed guy stood in the middle of the beach & started taking photos of all and sundry. What really made it creepy, was that he brought a kid with a bucket and spade to act as a prop. A few Germans went ant had a quiet word with him. I don't speak much German, but I think that they were explaining what they would would do with his telephoto lens, if he didn't clear off.

There are some odd folk about

There certainly are!  And TripAdvisor seems to be full of them.  Quite why folk will pay good Money to go to a renowned naturist beach location and then bleat about the fact that there are naked people about is beyond my comprehension.  What's more disturbing is the common warning of "...if you have kids, beware of nudists...".

That one crack me up as well. They never seem to articulate what the exact threat is to their kids though. Psychological damage, PTSD? Maybe they think naked = dodgy, speedos = sound as a pound?   The issue is with the parents, not the kids.
Saying that, if they want to keep their kids off my stretch of beach, great as I am a miserable bar steward who likes peace and quiet

Personally the funniest was a mother complaining her new born was being exposed to topless women.

Just found another corker on TA.  I have visions of this person barricaded in the hotel room with the sideboard pushed up against the door & the Kool Aid at hand.  TUI Magic Life

We like a hotel near the beach as we like to visit the beach at least once a day and this hotel advertises it's long sandy beach as an asset. However on our first visit to the beach with our 9 & 12 year old to our shock and horror! there were nudists, everywhere! Not just in one part of the beach, EVERY part of the beach. We had to about turn and take cover in the hotel for the rest of the holiday. Such a shame there is so much indecency on the beach entire stretch that it spoils it for everyone, especially for families with young children.

In my time, I have been to many places, Australia being the furthest from home, where there are designated beaches and primitive resorts and a huge outback, but it is also possible to use less busy beaches as you can anywhere else.

Mainly I have found Europe to be very accommodating, Germany and Austria of course its not just summer time when public nudity in parks and river banks is common place, but also the winter with the huge sauna culture.  Scandinavia tends to be a bit cool, but I have enjoyed a nice sauna there and believe in Stockholm people do sunbathe naked on the one or two days when its possible.

Mainland Spain and France in the European summer are of course very popular, Vera Playa in Spain is nice, as is Euronat in France, was there again last summer.  I am old enough to remember when I could take my young children to Cap d'Agde for a family naturist holiday, but the swimming pool and slide we used to enjoy as a family have been built over to provide for a swingers hotel.... to cater for the mainstream visitor there these days.

Although not publicised much but Portugal has a very accepting attitude to nudity and I have enjoyed many a day on a remote beach there, there is also inland, a new hippy / natural living culture there which is very open to nudity.

In the UK summer there are a couple of great beaches in Wales and personally I am prone to go for a nude hike on a beautiful sunny day out in the UK countryside.

I am relatively new to the Canaries and have enjoyed a couple of holidays there over the last couple of years, the first being my Birthday which being in April, Charco del Palo on Lanzarote was a good choice for the Weather at that time of year and was very enjoyable, we had a car and travelled the island using it as a base.

London can be a good option too as long as the Weather is ok for the World Naked Bike Ride WNBR, have to be brave to do that one, but I have a couple of times, Sheffield, Manchester, and Brighton too.

Cheers

I really enjoyed Vera Playa in July 23, so much so that I’ll be back late August 24. I wasn’t expecting beaches of  Fuerteventura quality but in fairness the beach is decent enough.

Bahia de Vera was great, 90% Spanish guests / residents, quiet, family atmosphere, well kept, clean etc, it was great to be able to walk out of my accommodation at 7am & stroll to the pool for an early morning swim, slap on the factor 50 & walk the few minutes to the beach around 9am, the afternoons I tended to enjoy the pool area & a couple of Cuba Libre

It was great to have no need to get dressed unless going to the supermarket or eating outside the naturist zone as I did every evening

My apartment had a washing machine & I only had 5kg of luggage in my 10kg carry on, this year I don’t even have that, just a small rucksack to stick under the seat in front, I reckon 4kg is achievable  Smile

Due to an illness in the family, haven’t got Fuerte booked yet for this year but it will probably be the Tres Isla possibly in April or maybe Melonares, haven’t been to Gran Canaria before
