The Tent and the windsurfing world championship return to Sotavento.
The World Windsurfing and Kiteboarding Championship is held at Playa de la Barca (Costa Calma), an ideal environment for water sports. "Its celebration is a great external promotion for Pájara and Fuerteventura, as one of the most important Events held in the Canary Islands in the sports Calendar and also for the associated leisure offer," says the councilor.
Its impact generates millions of euros in revenue for small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as shops and businesses in the area. "We must not forget the unparalleled tourism promotion of this sporting and cultural event, with a media impact that reaches hundreds of millions of people around the world. It was necessary to recover it for the municipality of Pájara and we have done so," concludes Clementina da Silva.
In this way Pájara recovers the World Championship of Windsurfing and Kiteboarding, after the summer did not celebrate on the beach of La Barca for the first time in 34 editions. Coalición Canaria (CC) ensures that the tournament has the necessary permits for its return to the waters of the leeward beaches of Jandía, which means tourism promotion and the practice of water sports for the southern municipality.
Both Alexis Alonso and Clementina da Silva, mayor of Tourism, appreciate the effort of the staff of the Technical Office and Tourism to recover such an important event for the municipality of Pájara. The municipal head of Tourism explains that "we have also had to readjust the budgets for the subsidy of 300,000 euros granted by the Department of Tourism and that will allow to celebrate such an emblematic, expected and very necessary event for the economic reactivation of the municipality of Pájara".
