Anyone tried growing a coconut from scratch?? I couldn' t get mine to start. And all those I bought already growing, from the nut in a pot, have circumed to the dreaded wind.

Or a date palm?

I always feel a bit sorry for that lonely palm on the right as you head from La Oliva to Lajares.

I have a few date palms growing. I usually collect the dates from Jandia, where the Ayuntamiento have a number of trees producing some very large, delicious dates (maybe medjool?). Another slow grower, and you need multiple trees in order to cross-pollinate. The stones sprout fairly easily after a good soak.

I am more of a Heath Robinson gardener.
My brassica tunnel made out of a redundant kiddies trampoline that I salvage from a skip
