Helicopter rescue today

The GES helicopter rescues a hiker injured after falling into the crater of a volcano in Fuerteventura, in the area of Calderón Hondo, municipality of La Oliva on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 around 4:26 p.m.
 
Assessment of those affected provided by the SUC:
  • A 24-year-old woman who, at the initial moment of care, presented a moderate lower limb trauma, rescued by the GES helicopter and transferred to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura.

  • Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands: a rescue helicopter
  • Extinction and Rescue Service of La Oliva
  • Civil Guard

Remarks:[/size]
  • At the time indicated above, an alert is received at the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands communicating that a person had fallen into the crater of a volcano and that he needed health care.
  • The 1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
  • The GES helicopter located the wounded and proceeded to rescue him. Once immobilized, he transferred her to the aforementioned hospital.
  • The Firefighters and the Civil Guard collaborated with the GES in the rescue tasks.

Rescued a man injured after falling in an area of difficult access in Fuerteventura.
As reported by the Government of the Canary Islands through the website of the 112 Canary Islands, A GES helicopter transfers to the hospital a seriously injured man in an area of difficult access in Fuerteventura, in the area of Aguas Verdes, ravine of the Mozos, Betancuria, today Sunday thirteen of February, about 09:04 hours.

Assessment of those affected provided by the SUC:
  • Male, whose age is unknown, who at the initial moment of the assistance presents head trauma of a serious nature, transferred in a rescue helicopter of the GES to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura.

Intervening services activated by CECOES 1-1-2:

  • Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands: a rescue helicopter
  • Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC): medicalized ambulance and basic life support ambulance
  • Fuerteventura Emergencies
  • Local Police
  • Civil Guard

Remarks:

  • At the time indicated above, a fisherman alerted the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 to report that in the area mentioned above he had found the body of a man, probably deceased, with a strong blow to the head.
  • The 1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
  • The affected was in an area of difficult access so together with the ground services the GES helicopter was activated.
  • The SUC staff upon arrival verified that the injured was alive so they made the first assistance, stabilizing him, for his subsequent transfer in the GES helicopter to the hospital.
