The Consortium "multiplies" after two major breakdowns on Tuesday.

The CAAF attends the fault located in the main pipe between Casillas del Ángel and Tesjuate in addition to a breakdown this morning on May Day.
The Water Supply Consortium to Fuerteventura (CAAF) has detected about seven o'clock this morning on Tuesday, January 21, a fault in the main pipe that supplies part of the hull of Puerto del Rosario.

Specifically, the fault is located on Primero de Mayo Street, at the Central height of the Uniform, although the CAAF services are trying to locate the specific point of the breakage, which can hinder the repair time of the same.

Although the fault affects the lower area of Puerto del Rosario, according to the Consortium, the water levels available in the header tanks are optimal, so it is expected that other users will not be affected.

The CAAF regrets the inconvenience caused and those that may continue to occur throughout the day, although the technicians indicate that the forecast is that the fault is repaired throughout the day today.

Also affected in Casillas del Ángel and Tesjuate

In addition, the CAAF is repairing the fault detected in the pipe of the main network that is located between the towns of Casillas del Ángel and Tesjuate, in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario.

Although this break comes to add to the one located on Primero de Mayo Street, according to the CAAF services, these are independent breakdowns and this, in particular, will not be affected beyond specific cuts that may occur during the repair work in these two populations, which are connected by the affected pipe.

According to the estimates of the CAAF technicians, the work will last until approximately mid-afternoon today, hoping that the incident can be resolved before the end of the day.

The CAAF and the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura wanted to send a message to the possible affected users, regretting the inconvenience that this breakdown may generate due to the cuts necessary for its repair, as well as stating that they will continue working in order to resolve the two incidents that affect Puerto del Rosario as soon as possible.

10 days without water in Vallebrón.

It is already 10 days without water in Vallebrón. As explained by a neighbor of the town to Radio Sintonía, in the best of cases they have subsisted with just a thread. They ask that the situation be solved as soon as possible since, although vats of water have been taken, the drums have already been exhausted. He says that 500 or 1,000 liters are not enough to supply a family for so long.

The situation of this neighbor is the same in the rest of the houses of the town. They wonder if something is being done from the consortium and the responsible institutions and ask for a solution, unless they are adequately supplied by carrying more vats.

Tamara: it's not been a lot better in Tindaya. We've been getting mains water for a few hours each night, but not enough to fill the tanks of those of us near the end of the line. A lot of days we've had to do without showers or using the washing machine - it's a right pain keep having to check the tank level before using more than a kettle full. Cry

and in a different area

Radio Sintonia:

The CAAF intervenes to repair a fault in the pipe of the main network of Calderetilla-Tiscamanita.

From the Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura (CAAF) report that the consortium is repairing the fault detected yesterday, March 14, in the main pipe of the drinking water network that runs, specifically, through the area of Tesjuate, in a manhole with hydraulic network elements. Repairs that, as indicated by the Service, are expected to be completed throughout today, Wednesday, March 15.

Several municipalities affected
The affected pipe, in addition, supplies various municipalities, so it has affected part of Puerto del Rosario, assuming deficiencies in the supply to the areas of Casillas del Ángel, Ampuyenta and Almácigo; also to Antigua, with an impact on almost the entire municipality, with the exception of the urban area; as well as the municipality of Betancuria in its entirety and the municipalities of Tuineje and Pájara to a large extent.

Because it is a 400mm transport network, the procedure of unloading the network, repair and recharging it (more than 72km of 400mm pipe) for the restoration of the service must be carried out with caution, which is why it is expected that the works will extend throughout the day today.

Both the insular president, Sergio Lloret, and the vice president and counselor of Water, Juan Nicolás Cabrera, wanted to send a message in which they thank "the patience of the users meanwhile the work is completed, regretting the inconvenience that may have been caused and continue to cause throughout the day. "

Pájara thanks the Cabildo for the work to solve the water problem in La Pared and La Lajita.

The contribution of water that comes from the existing plant in the Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura and from four other points of supply companies.

The City Council of Pájara appreciates the immediate resolution of the urgent lack of water in La Lajita, La Pared and Tarajal de Sancho. The solution to this historic problem has been the result of cooperation between the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura, along with four other water supply companies.

In this way, the Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura (CAAF) has launched an action within the framework of the Water Emergency decree, through which complementary flows of water will be injected into the Island Network from the existing plant in the Wildlife Oasis.

The Councilor for Water, Dunia Álvaro, celebrated the inter-administrative work that has allowed the population of La Lajita, La Pared and other areas of the municipality to have running water in their homes again. "These people have been suffering more than 25 years from water cuts and in La Pared the neighbors have been without water for 11 days, so this contribution of water will facilitate that the La Lajita tank is full and this situation is solved."

In the same way, the mayor of Pájara, Pedro Armas, thanked the involvement and collaboration of the company Oasis Wildlife and the Island Council to put an end to the lack of water in the southern area of Fuerteventura and for responding to a historical demand of citizens that had not been resolved in recent years.

"President Sergio Lloret was present at a plenary session to which we invited him to solve the problems and, as he promised, the first step was to put the water in the taps of the people and now it is time to move forward with definitive actions," explained the mayor.

Fuerteventura celebrates World Water Day by proposing solutions to curb shortages of this resource.

In a statement issued by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura it is reported that the president of the insular institution, Sergio Lloret, and the Insular Vice President and Minister of Water, Juan Nicolás Cabrera, have starred today in the Institutional Act in commemoration of the 'Water Day' that took place at the headquarters of the Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura in the presence of the manager, Gonzalo Báez, and the workers of the institution, during which President Lloret stressed the need to "bring Fuerteventura to the XXI century", guaranteeing "a good as essential as the supply of water to the homes of the island".

World Water Day to remember the problems that the island is going through with this resourcea
The president wanted to start the event "thanking the patience that the population of the island is having", in the face of the situation of water shortages that several areas of Fuerteventura are suffering at the moment. For this reason, he also wanted to make a special mention "to all the CAAF staff because their work is not easy either. It is not easy to go out and find that your own neighbors are complaining that water does not reach their homes. It's very hard."

In the same sense, the Vice President and Minister of Water, Juan Nicolás Cabrera, said that for the Insular Institution it is "imperative to give a solution so that all citizens of that essential liquid that is water, so the Cabildo is carrying out together with the CIAF and the CAAF all the necessary measures to make this a reality "

A solution that, as Lloret said, "was not easy either. We have had to do in two years what others did not do in more than 20, "he said in relation to the comprehensive plan for the hydraulic reconfiguration of Fuerteventura, which includes three projects of Island Interest, one for the North Region, another for the South Region and another for the central area of the island.

These projects, "together with endless actions" that are already being carried out on the island will allow, according to Lloret "that the workers of the Consortium feel proud again to be part of the public company that was born in order to bring water to each and every one of the families to our island, to each and every one of the corners of Fuerteventura and that, at some point, that goal was lost along the way, but we are recovering it".

According to Lloret, the hydraulic planning of the island, "which was necessary 15 or 20 years ago and has now been launched, is costing us, but fortunately it is already defined and yesterday the last procedures were signed that will allow projects of Island Interest to be awarded in 15 or 20 days," he announced.

Actions underway for the 'Water Emergency'
President Lloret recalled how the declaration of 'Water Emergency' was definitively approved on March 3 at an extraordinary session of the CIAF Council, "with the aim of providing an immediate and urgent solution to the serious situation of risk of shortage of drinking water in which different parts of the island are located".

The measure has allowed the Island Consortium to implement various measures, such as the punctual contracting of water tanks or the purchase of water for industrial production with the quality required for human consumption through public and private production centers outside the CAAF.

This is the case of the recent interventions carried out for the injection of water from Aguas de Antigua and from Oasis WildLife, which has allowed "to address the problem in the most complicated points, being more than 70 kilometers from the desalination plants," explained Lloret.

In addition to these and the actions already carried out with the supply with water tanks, other "immediate actions are planned in the coming weeks with which we hope to be able to resolve the dramatic situations we have had and still, at some points, we are having," he said.

More than 230 million investment
Prior to the celebration of the Act, the island councilor and the vice president made a tour of the other two water treatment plants on the island, located in Gran Tarajal and Corralejo, in order to know the status of execution of the different works and improvement works that have been carried out in them, both through the Insular Plan for Cooperation in Actions of Guarantee of the Domestic Water Supply (PICABAS) of Fuerteventura, as based on the recent declaration of 'Water Emergency'.

As detailed by Lloret, with investments that will exceed 230 million euros, the Cabildo counts "almost 50 actions among those that have already been executed, those that are underway and those that are planned for execution in the short term, which extend throughout the island and that aim to improve the Island Water Supply Network of both the Northern Region and of the South Region and the Central Zone of the Island".

A new Desalination Plant for the Southern Region of the island, planned to be located in Gran Tarajal and replace the current center, as well as the expansion and improvement of the Corralejo Plant and the works underway to improve the pipelines and increase the efficiency of the Puerto del Rosario Plant are part of the three major projects of Island Interest designed for the complete hydraulic reconfiguration of the island. that aim to generate a "true long-term plan that manages to definitively end the hardships that for decades we have suffered all majoreros when it comes to accessing a good as essential and fundamental for life as water," said the president.

Radio Sintonia:

The improvement works of the Corralejo desalination plant will have a budget of 2.5 million euros.

The president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret, and the vice president and councilor of Waters, Juan Nicolás Cabrera, visited today, Friday, March 24, together with technicians from the Cabildo and the manager of the Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura (CAAF), Gonzalo Báez, the Seawater Desalination Station (EDAM) of Corralejo to publicly announce the expansion and improvement works in execution in the installation that serves, mainly, the North Region of the island.

Modernisation of infrastructure
During the tour, the first island councilor said that three important works are already underway to improve the Corralejo Desalination Plant, in the municipality of La Oliva, "a plant from the 90s that, practically, for more than 30 years has not had work or maintenance and modernization work. "

The works that are being carried out through the Insular Plan for Cooperation in Actions to Guarantee the Domestic Water Supply of the island of Fuerteventura (PICABAS), with a total budget of almost 2.5 million euros, consist of the expansion and improvement of the performance of the plant, the reform of its transformation center and the works aimed at improving the remineralization of desalinated water.

After works necessary to reduce energy consumption
For his part, Juan Nicolás Cabrera, vice president and counselor of Aguas del Cabildo, stressed that this plant, which has been almost abandoned for more than 30 years, has continued to produce water "in that way". But now "from the Cabildo, the CAAF and the CIAF is acting to be able, not only to increase its flow, but also to clean up the plant. These three works, which are already underway, will bear fruit in a very short time for the benefit of all citizens, especially in the north of the island."

This was detailed by President Lloret, adding that "one of the works is inherent to the improvement of civil works, which is very degraded. In addition, other elements will be incorporated into the production of water to reduce energy consumption and, above all, to expand production by almost 1000 cubic meters, up to 5000 cubic meters per day."

This intervention is linked to the improvement of the "remineralization of water, so that you have water with the best quality". And, finally, a third work related to "the restoration of electrical installations to give the necessary safety to the workers of the Consortium in the maintenance work of the operation of the plant", remarked President Lloret.

The president had a few words of thanks to the entities that are making these works a reality to improve the water quality of the north of the island, emphasizing the "joint effort that is being made from the Cabildo, the Consortium and the Island Water Council. All this within the specific plan that we have launched in this legislature to solve the problems, the PICABAS, to solve the problems of water supply of our island. "

Three actions underway
The first work, the expansion and improvement of the performance of the desalination plant, has a budget of 1.8 million euros and seeks to improve energy efficiency, both aimed at reducing the specific consumption of the desalination process and the implementation of a system that allows the improvement of the monitoring of electricity consumption.

As explained by the director of this work, the energy performance of the pumping equipment is a factor dependent on their state of maintenance. Therefore, the measures to be adopted to improve energy efficiency include the installation of V/F in the pumping of seawater catchment, the installation of isobaric chambers, the incorporation of changes in the operating conditions of reverse osmosis frames and energy efficiency monitoring systems.

The second action underway consists of the reform of the EDAM transformation center, which has a budget of just over 200 thousand euros and, after its award last October, has an execution period of eight months with the aim of optimizing the control of the plant's electricity consumption.

To do this, the protection of transformer 1, which was not in good condition, will be changed. In addition, due to the corrosion suffered, the transformers will be replaced by identical ones, of equal power and transformation ratio, but with C5M anti-corrosion treatment and natural cooling with biodegradable ester (obtained from vegetable seeds and that maintains its own natural antioxidants). It is also planned to change the access doors to transformers, among other works.

Finally, with a budget of almost 300 thousand euros, work will be carried out to improve the remineralization of the desalinated water of the plant, in order to obtain better quality water for supply and consumption.

The Cabildo presents an Insular plan of 238.5 million euros for the Fuerteventura Hydraulic Network.

The president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret, together with Juan Nicolás Cabrera, vice president and councilor of Water of the Institution, shared today, Thursday, March 30, at a press conference the status of execution of the actions included in the Insular Plan for Cooperation in Actions of Guarantee of the Domestic Water Supply of Fuerteventura (PICABAS), and of the three projects of Insular Interest for the Hydraulic Reconfiguration of the Island, of which, through the Framework Agreement of the Institution, the invitations to companies for their drafting were formalized today.

Likewise, Lloret and Cabrera informed during the public appearance of the actions that are being carried out to immediately address the situation of 'Water Emergency' in which the island is located, with the incorporation of external flows to the Island Network.

With all the actions launched by the Majorera Administration, together with the Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura (CAAF) and the Island Water Council of Fuerteventura (CIAF), it is pursued, as explained by Lloret, to offer the island "a real and definitive solution for a network that, currently, does not give for more, a network that was configured to supply an island of 40 thousand people and that today has to attend to more than 120 thousand. It is something that was known. The real solution is to change the whole system and that's what we're working on, defining what we have to do. It should have been done 20 years ago and we have had to do in two, what others did not do, but we have already done it, "said the president.

It is, as explained by the vice president and counselor Juan Nicolás Cabrera, a "long-term plan, which solves a problem more than 20 years ahead, and a short-term plan, with the declaration of 'Water Emergency' that allows us to carry out the actions that were required to resolve the situation immediately. "

A 'Water Emergency' that has given a "legal umbrella" to the Island Administration that allows both the use of water tanks and the incorporation of flows into the public network. A procedure that has already given viability to the injections from Aguas de Antigua and Oasis Wildlife and that, as Cabrera detailed, will allow adding production sources to cover Caleta de Fuste or Las Playitas, among other spaces "also imminently".

More than 150 million for the reconfiguration of the Hydraulic Network

All this, however, involves provisional solutions that the Administration of the island, hand in hand with the CAAF and the CIAF, seeks to resolve for a lasting horizon through the three projects of Island Interest that, said Lloret, "we are going to leave contracted", after the start today of the processing of the files for, through the Framework Agreement, Send invitations to companies for the drafting of the same.

It is a commitment of the Island Council, launched in parallel to the actions and interventions planned in the PICABAS, in order to offer a complete reconfiguration of the Fuerteventura Hydraulic Network.

Taking into account the great distances of the island and with the aim of guaranteeing access to water for citizens from all corners of the island, these three projects seek to provide a "real and definitive" solution to the problem of drinking water in Fuerteventura, with the configuration of three large centers in which both hydraulic infrastructures will be included, as the sustainable energy installations associated with them.

The Northern Region would be linked to the Corralejo Desalination Plant, with a base budget of more than 20 million euros. Meanwhile, the central area of the island, linked to the Puerto del Rosario Plant, would have a budget of almost 63 million for the Project of Island Interest, Finally, the Southern Region, which provides for the creation of a new Desalination Plant, has a budget forecast amounting to almost 73 million euros.

"But this does not mean that we have to wait for its drafting and execution to have water in Fuerteventura," said the president, who detailed the projects of Insular Interest and their related actions will be executed "in parallel" to the execution of the interventions planned through PICABAS, in order to provide solutions to the island's supply network.

238.5 million and 16 completed actions

As explained by the island councilor, with a budget will reach 238.5 million euros, the Majorera Corporation has already completed 16 of the interventions included in the PICABAS and started the execution of six other actions that "are going at a good pace".

Meanwhile, another 26 actions are planned to be carried out in the short term in order to improve and repair water supply channels, adapt production centers, make improvements to tanks, control and management centers and, ultimately, carry out all kinds of actions to guarantee the supply of water to all corners of the island.

This investment, which estimates the need to invest up to 26 million euros in general interventions for the entire island, is distributed among the three relocated areas of the island, the North Region, with 39.3 million, the South Region, with 84 million, and the Central area, with 89 million.

In this way, with the addition of the three major projects of Island Interest to those foreseen by the PICABAS the president Sergio Lloret, trusts in "offering a real and lasting solution to the historical problem of water on our island, with a horizon of 25 years that allows us to bring Fuerteventura to the XXI century as we deserve the majoreros and it seems incredible that we have to say that in full 2023, But that's how we find ourselves."

Aguas de Antigua will incorporate water into the island network.

The company is waiting to receive detailed information from the CAAF on the works and facilities it needs to proceed with the supply coupling

The Aguas de Antigua Mixed Company, chaired by the mayor, Matías Peña García, is waiting for the technical and action document that the Fuerteventura Water Supply Consortium, CAAF, needs to carry out to proceed with the connection with the island network.

A connection between the two supply networks that will strengthen the water supply to the south of the island, says Councilman Matías Peña, in the face of an urgent and urgent situation declared an island water emergency.

The Aguas de Antigua Joint Venture is therefore willing to react as soon as possible since the CAAF communicates the technical detail of equipment and installation it needs, as well as the best legal formula that allows this action to be carried out at the Montaña Blanca EDAM Station.

A collaboration between the Mixed Company of Aguas Antigua and the CAAF derived from the need to minimize water cuts and lack of supply in the south of the island, and concludes the municipal councilor, without this reinforcement affecting the supply guaranteed by Aguas de Antigua to the coastal towns of the Municipality.

I'm fed up to the back teeth with the water supply to Tindaya. It's never been reliable but for about 6 weeks now we have had little or no water during the day and then some nights we get a bit trickle through, though never enough to refill our reserve tank (2000L). Thank goodness the Weather has not been particularly hot or my garden would have really suffered. I'm fed up with having to check the tank before using the washing machine or having a shower - it's third world stuff.

The village is all suffering - several of the bars have had to shut for a day here and there when they run out of reserve water for the bathrooms and kitchens - they now have petitions which they are getting everyone to sign, and still the ayuntamiento are granting planning permission for more and more houses to be built without ensuring that the village has sufficient supplies of water.

OK, rant over. I'm seriously considering getting an additional reserve tank of 5000L for garden use only but it will be a very expensive exercise by the time I've bought the tank, had the plumbing done and the electrics and pump.... and where on earth am I going to put it???

We are fortunate on Fuerteventura Golf to have Anjoca Water the developments own desalination plant and wastewater treatment work with the treated grey water then recycled into to golf course lakes for the sprinkler system.

With this proposal for Aguas de Antigua to supplement the CAFF supply I hope it doesn't leave Antigua area with shortages as I have seen social media posts of supply issues in Triquivijate which I assume is supplied by Aguas de Antigua.

It would be interesting to know at what size a new development has to put in its own desalination plant and wastewater treatment works so as not to increase the pressure on the municipal systems.
