The CAAF will carry out preventive maintenance work in the EDAM of Puerto del Rosario.

The Fuerteventura Water Supply Consortium (CAAF) will undertake maintenance work at the desalination plant in Puerto del Rosario. It is about executing preventive maintenance tasks of one of the modules of this plant, so the flow of contribution to the deposits located in La Herradura will be reduced by 7,000 m3 / day.

Preventive maintenance in the face of expected summer consumption
The work is scheduled for next Tuesday. July 4. They will begin early in the morning and the work is expected to be completed around 16:00 p.m.

These preventive maintenance works in the Puerto del Rosario EDAM are necessary due to the proximity of the summer season, in which a higher consumption than usual is expected, in addition to expected temperature rises.

From the CAAF it is also reported that it is a necessary repair to improve efficiency and increase production in facilities that present a remarkable fragility due to their obsolescence.

Normality in the water supply is expected to return during the same Tuesday. For this reason, the CAAF apologizes to users.

4.6 km of pipes to carry water to the La Herradura reservoir.

The manufacturer of Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) pipes and fittings Amiblu has completed the supply of 4.6 km of GRP pipes for the drinking water supply work from the Puerto del Rosario desalination plant to the La Herradura tanks.

The total length of the pipeline supplied by Amiblu in Fuerteventura is 4,686 meters of GRP tubes with diameter DN800 in pressures of 10, 16 and 25 bars, with multiple accessories of all kinds, such as flanges, elbows, tes, etc. The main challenges have been the realization of a profile that minimizes the angles of the route of the pipe, the underground passages by gallery – having to use anchors for the placement of the pipe in aerial – and the placement of a collector piece located in an area with multiple services affected and that is in the manufacturing phase.

The execution of this work is of vital importance for the island, as it guarantees the supply of drinking water. In fact, it has been completely necessary in light of the frequent breakdowns that the existing impulsion pipes had been suffering, the result of their poor condition after more than 30 years in use.

The project is part of the 'Insular Cooperation Plan for the guarantee of domestic water supply Isla de Fuerteventura' (PICABAS 2020-2025) of the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through the Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura (CAAF), for the impulsion of drinking water from the Production Center of Puerto del Rosario (EDAM Puerto del Rosario) to the regulatory deposits of La Herradura. It has a total budget of 3.2 million of euros.

Energy efficiency of GRP pipes

GRP pipes offer significant advantages for the supply of drinking water, compared to pipes made of traditional materials, such as concrete or steel. With a very durable service life, they stand out for having a smooth inner surface, as well as for their excellent hydraulic properties, with significantly low friction losses. In addition, they are more environmentally friendly – they have a CO2 impact three times lower – lighter, easier to transport and handle, and more energy efficient.

The CAAF communicates a scheduled supply cut.

The General Directorate of Roads has requested a scheduled cut that will take place tomorrow Thursday and could affect users from Risco Prieto to Llanos de La Mareta

The Fuerteventura Water Supply Consortium (CAAF) wishes to inform the community that a scheduled supply cut will be carried out due to the construction works of the section of the Puerto del Rosario-La Caldereta highway. This cut will affect the water supply in the area of Playa Blanca (Puerto del Rosario).

The works require diverting one of the main pipes, specifically the pipe that supplies drinking water from the industrial estate of Risco Prieto to Llanos de La Mareta.

For this reason, the General Directorate of Roads of the Government of the Canary Islands, responsible for the works, has requested the CAAF a scheduled cut. It will take place tomorrow, Thursday, July 20, from 08.00 to 14.00.

The CAAF apologizes for the inconvenience that this cut may cause to users of the areas of Risco Prieto, Las Granadas urbanization, Playa Blanca, Airport, El Matorral and Llanos de La Mareta.
