I have just helped an Irish friend change his illegible EU green card, non bio-metric,no photo.
Obtain appointment in usual way. Pay 790 Eu12 take in bank receipt for payment plus duplicate. Complete and take 023 put Duplicado on it (plus copy) Passport plus copy. They take another copy on their computer. Padron less than 6 months old plus copy. No photos,no fingerprints. New card issued there and then. suggest you go about 15 minutes before your appointment Note If you are Irish hope you get the guy with the full beard, hes been to Limerick and like Guinness

DavidP am I correct in saying that Irish residents only get issued a green card, as my daughter (scottish) and son in law (english) who holds an Irish passport as his mum is Irish, they move to Fuerteventura permanently in Oct this year. I am intrigued in what they will get issued.

If they hold UK passports, they will need to apply for a visa in the UK before they book a flight. Once you have the visa, they will be issued with a 1 year TIE.
If they hold Irish passports, they are EU citizens and can use the freedom of movement to live and work here. Not quite sure what residency card they will have to apply for. Tom.

Cotillo Tom, apologies I should have said that my daughter holds a UK passport and her husband holds an Irish passport.

As she is married to an EU citizen (husband holding an Irish passport), I THINK she might be exempt from the 90 days in 180 days rule and the need for a visa before she arrives her. However, I AM NO EXPERT, and on this topic you absolutely need an expert opinion.
I can't recommend anyone in particular, perhaps others might have some suggestions, but definitely get expert advice first please. My understanding is, as long as she travels with her EU citizen husband, she will have no worries but if she travels alone, there could be issues on arrival or departure, so please get it checked out first. All the best, Tom.

On the basis of the excellent information provided by DavidP (thank you David), and others, we attended the National Police Station in Puerto to renew our TIE's.
Total panic at the start, as the Photo Studio opposite the Police Station was shut. Notice on the door said closed for personal reasons 14 - 21 July. However, not open on the 22nd! Mad rush to the alternatve shop, in the same street as the Police Station. A huge queue (as he was the only one open), meant we were 12 minutes late for the 10am appointment for my Wife, but just in time for my 10.15am appointment. No issues. Shown to waiting area and called to the desk before we could sit down. Produced EX-17 and Modelo 790-12 plus passports, TIE's and new photos. All the other paperwork we had taken (for safety) was ignored. The Police Officer wasn't too keen to proceed as our exsisting TIE's valid until next year. Produced copies of our Green Cards (5 years and 1 month old) and she was happy to proceed. Passport, TIE and photos scanned, index fingers of both hands into fingerprint machine and we were 'cooking on gas' until she asked for copies of the passports and TIE's!! Panic - we didn't have copies with us! Ran down street with passports and TIE's while wife was faffling about with fingerprints and got back €1.60 lighter with copies before she had finished (the machine just didn't like her fingers). Collect new, 10 year TIE's, in 45 days and produce Passports and TIE's for collection. Thanks David and others for the invaluable advice. Tom.(NOW 100% Cotillo based).

Congrats Tom and other successes.
That finger print machine doesn't seem to like ladies index fingers. My wife had hell of a job. I think its because they wear out their roundels from too much wagging of that finger!! That's it I am now in deep trouble. Better go diving and hide off Lobos. (30 metres down)
