National Police arrested a man in Fuerteventura as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization and favoring illegal immigration, after an investigation focused on a transnational network dedicated to the illicit trafficking of persons.
The organisation, with an operational base in Morocco, transferred migrants from the coasts of Tan Tan to the Canary Islands aboard inflatable boats.
The structure had functions distributed among different members (collection, transport, control and collection), and had its own logistical means such as off-road vehicles and technological tools for payment management and operational coordination.
Within the framework of the investigation, an individual was identified in Fuerteventura who acted as an operational intermediary, in charge of receiving payments, coordinating transfers and providing logistical support to migrants upon their arrival in the Canary Islands. The estimated economic benefit per person exceeded 4,000 euros.

The operational phase of the Police operation was carried out on May 28 and 30, with an entry and house search in the Majorero municipality of Antigua, where six mobile phones, two mass data storage devices and documentation related to the investigated activity were seized.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number one of Arrecife, which decreed his entry into provisional detention.
