Travel Insurance info for Dutch residents
#1
I had to split this from another insurance tread to keep everything in order. (Sam)

Insurance companies in the UK must make fortunes.
In the Netherlands we pay €90/year. 180 days per trip, Europe only and a €50 own risk for baggage.
(90 days is standard, but when we objected they changed it to 180)

180 days is great Erik. The rest heavily depend on the age and pre-existing conditions. Can't compare Apples & Oranges Wink

Can you provide some links, please? More of us would be interested in cover like that. I personally have never heard of an insurance company, not asking about pre-existing conditions or not changing the premium due to the age of their clients. Thanks.

Thanks Erik. That's just a travel insurance. Of course they don't ask about conditions nor your age Big Grin Emmi is looking for a Travel/health combo insurance.

They pay all health issues and extra expenses which are not covered aboard by your normal health insurance.

Would you mind to point me to the document that would confirm this? To trust to any insurance company is pretty risky business and it would be great to see it somewhere in written form. Contact them again to confirm whatever you think they do cover, please. Mistakes in some cases could be very costly and you don't want to end up paying for emergency transport back to the mainland or something similar.

Sam, this whole tread is about a travel insurance with medical coverage.
I already gave you the site where you can find all the info.
Mind you that you will only be covered if you have a Dutch national health insurance (it is a Dutch company).

My bad, they do mention "medical cost" in the quote, I hope they mean all cost. Having to pay the mandatory Dutch national insurance (1,000 plus euro per year) isn't making this too attractive to anyone else but a great deal if you're paying it already.
