I have looked at 2 forecasts this morning and neither says wind speeds or gusts above 43 KMph or if you prefer 26.7 MPH for Sunday.
Morning John, I agree. When I checked a day later, the online forecasts all revised their calculations, downscaling the severity of the wind. But saying that, looking at the forecasts this morning, it still looks like a breezy night ahead.
Hi Martin, if you look at Stephens - Captain's post re the
Weather warming the wind speeds are no greater than what we have had earlier this week.
I see the 2 forecast I look at are both now giving wind warnings with speeds of over 40 KMph.
Based on the current view out to sea there is definitely a Calima out there.

Hi Stephen - I can't understand why these alerts were not given earlier as the wind speeds have not increased what when I looked in the morning and they are no higher than what we experienced earlier this week, with no warnings, may be the warning is due to the dust that might affect people with breathing conditions.
Saturday morning the dust is certainly there and they have now increased the wind speed forecast for tonight.

Morning all, now to the
Weather report, yesterday was a nice day the wind did pick up during the afternoon.
This morning at 8am it is 15C, no cloud but loads of calima dust making the sunrise very hazy, currently a light breeze, and some condensation on the car and roof terrace.
Today's Caleta forecast -
A cloud free day but very hazy sunshine due to the Calima dust, shade temperature to get up to 24C from 3pm to 5pm with a UV factor reaching 5 from 11am to 2pm.
Wind from the N this morning 17 to 22 KMph with gust up to 24 KMph moving NE this afternoon increasing to 24 to 35 KMph with gusts late afternoon early evening of 43 KMph and probably high overnight.
As mentioned by Captain there is a
Weather warming in place for the Saturday and Sunday

Well in all our time, 30+ years of coming to Fuerteventura and nearly 4 years of having a villa, here we have never seen a Calima, dust storm like this.
At 12 noon 30C in the very hazy sun and 22 in the shade, wind has picked up but not yet as strong as MLA has reported in El Cotillo.

Anyone with a weak chest strongly advised to wear a mask if you need to go out.
It doesn't matter what it looks like if it stops a chest infection!

We have a code: D.A.R.U.D.E in Corralejo.
Usually, we can see all the way up Lanzarote and across the desert to the RIU
But right now we can't even see the end of Corralejo or even the desert at all.
And we're leaving to go to
Oasis Park right now....
Will try to post some pics later
