Applying for your Residencia: How To
#41
Been to Centro Salud tonight (our first appointment with a doctor under the Spanish system), and THE CARD PRINTING MACHINE IS WORKING!!!!!

David P, get down there quickly!!

Tom.

PS. The appointment went absolutely perfectly. Doctor preferred to speak English, was very through and was willing to deal with more than one issue (unlike UK).

Had a rather upsetting email today. We have been talking with Carolina Romano over the last couple of months to get our residencia sorted out before the end of this year but got this from her today. Seems like very few are going to be successful, even though conditions are supposed to stay the same until end of this year, assuming no delay to final Brexit 🤬🤬🤬

The law changed last week for British citizens. Now to get the residency is more difficult  if you are not living here. It is very slow now to get it, at least 3 months and both of you have to be here for applying.

Now it is not allowed a basic cover, it is obligatory to have private health insurance with no excess that covers emergencies & hospitalisation. Also enough funds to live here without working.

If you are not going to live here the whole year, I think it is not worth applying for residency as you could come for 3 months at once. If you want to apply for residency, you have to wait 3 months for the answer from the government and then to continue with the process and to apply both of you have to be here.

The British Ambassador in Madrid, along with the Spanish Minister of State for Migrations recorded a video about people wishing to secure their position in Spain after December and to re-assure them.

The video is available on the Brits in Spain Facebook page, Youtube, and Janet Anscombe's page.

The need to reside in Spain for 90 days is not new. They ask the date you commenced residency on the application.

They say that if you commence the application prior to 31 Dec then that is sufficient.

I believe that you have to remain in the island whilst the process takes place, as it is no longer done 'on the same day'.

I also believe that some of the new guidance is to be interpreted locally. So needs to be tested.

Good luck with your application.

Hi There

I wonder if you can help, my boyfriend and I are relocating to Fuerteventura at the end of this month but we both bank with HSBC and when requesting stamped bank statements they have explained it is against policy. We have been told we need three months of stamped and officially signed bank statements to be able to apply for our residency and are now at a bit of a loss as what we can do to move this forward, has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know if anything else would be accepted?

Thanks all in advance

I can not help with your query Sam, but I am sure someone will, but I strongly recommend you delete the post, as you are using your email address never a good idea on a public forum, just reregister with some other user name.

Hi Sam Watts, welcome to the forum!
As you will be arriving with only 1 month until the regs change (no time to afford any possible misunderstandings/delays and the need for booking appointments) I would strongly advise you to employ a professional to get all this rolling for you. They will know exactly what you need and any possible alternatives. I haven't used one myself but if you look back on this and other threads you'll see many recommendations for Miguel at The Boxx Pro. Even the professionals may not be able to get it all completed for you by the end of the year but my understanding is that as long as it has been started you should be ok. Normally I would say have an adventure and try it for yourself, but time is against you on this occasion. Remember everything will close down for Christmas!
Good luck!
