Radio Sintonia:
Correos denies the union accusations and guarantees the quality of the service.
After the visit yesterday morning to the radio of Ángel Cabanillas, provincial secretary of CCOO correos Las Palmas, Alexis Socorro, union delegate CCOO Las Palmas and Moisés Caballero of Comisiones Obreras Fuerteventura, Correos has addressed this media to transfer its response to the statements made about the dismantling of the service. They have stated the following:
Correos guarantees the provision of the Universal Postal Service.
Correos is the operator designated by the State to provide the Universal Postal Service to all citizens, anywhere in the territory. Correos guarantees its provision under the same conditions of equity, accessibility, affordability and non-discrimination established by Law 43/2010 on the Universal Postal Service, the Rights of Users and the Postal Market (art. 1, 2, art. 2 and art. 22.1).
There is no plan to privatize Correos.
Correos is a 100% public company, owned by the State through its membership of SEPI. And it will continue to be: there is no privatization plan for the company.
There is no transfer of activity from Correos to Correos Express. The collaboration of Correos with its subsidiaries, including Correos Express, is within the usual synergies generated by the activity and are perfectly delimited in the regulations applicable to the Correos Group.
Correos has not stopped providing service in any town in the Canary Islands, the adaptation of the distribution structure to be more efficient, without loss of quality, is an obligation as a public operator and does not produce any dismantling or weakening of the Postal service in the Canary Islands. In fact, the company continues to make progress in the digitalization of the 2,295 points of attention to the public that it has in rural areas, 70 of them in the Canary Islands. These offices will be fully digitized and connected to the Correos systems, and will be able to facilitate the access of citizens to all their services on equal terms with the most populated urban areas.
Correos is not making layoffs or destroying jobs. Correos is not carrying out any process of dismissals and continues to work for stable and quality employment.
Correos is immersed in a process of transformation of its business model, without privatization or layoffs. The objective is to generate the revenues that reverse a situation of postal shipment losses aggravated by the pandemic situation (in
2021, 212 million less than in 2020, the year in which 500 million fewer shipments were sent than in 2019). This transformation process revolves around three axes: the diversification of services, internationalization and an improvement in efficiency. All this while maintaining the quality of service to citizens and with stable and quality employment, without any privatization plan and without any dismissal process.
It is completely false that Correos is going to fragment. This is an internal reorganization that will not affect the unity of the company. It is a specialization by business lines to improve management, within the structure of the company.
Correos, as a public company, has the obligation to strengthen its openness to other sectors and to diversify its business, efficiently allocating its resources, both human, logistics and technological, so that depending on the production, which is fluctuating, it adapts its workforce and the structure of its distribution sections to the level of real activity. And all this always maintaining the quality of the service it provides to all citizens, the commitments to deliver shipments and notifications within the contracted deadlines and respect for the working conditions of its staff.
Correos continues to bet on continuous social dialogue and stable employment. In Correos we advance in our negotiation process, in which our main objective is to address the aspects that most interest the employees of Correos on labor issues and that will allow us to carry out our new lines
of future and enhance new businesses.
As a result of this social dialogue since 2018, 234 meetings have been held with the social agents to address the day-to-day life of the company, which have resulted in:
Stable and quality
employment Correos is committed to stable employment as a guarantee of the best service, it is the best instrument to guarantee the provision of the service with the highest quality to all citizens and at the same time, contribute to the development of society. In the period 2020 to 2022, a total of 7,386 people have joined the company as permanent workers within the framework of the process of consolidation of temporary employment, of which 228 have done so in the Canary Islands. For this same year, Correos will convene its largest public offer of employment in decades with 5,377 positions of indefinite labor personnel.
Training period 2018 -2021
6,020,902 hours of training have been carried out for operational personnel. A total of 1,431,462 participants have received training.
Agreement Strategic
Plan Correos opened a process of dialogue on the new Strategic Plan with all trade union organizations that has resulted in the signing of a declaration, together with the unions CSIF, Sindicato Libre and CIG, on the main lines of action of the Strategic Plan of the Correos Group for 2021 -2024 from which they have emerged, among others, the following commitments:
, social dialogue and the sustainability of the company.
Correos continues to work on concrete actions to alleviate the problem of depopulation and contribute to the development of the rural world. These actions are articulated through the digitalization and incorporation of new services in rural offices, initiatives to combat financial exclusion and support for local producers and SMEs.
Correos has delivered 22,000 new PDAs to its delivery staff, with new functionalities that allow it to offer new services. These new devices incorporate pioneering technological improvements such as the one that allows you to pay by card from the device itself.
The project has been extended to the more than 6,000 rural postmen throughout Spain so that they can offer directly at the home of citizens many of the services that until now were only provided in offices, through their new portable devices (PDAs). In this way, you can pay bills, taxes or buy envelopes and packaging taking advantage of the visit of the postman.
Post Offices: a "one-stop shop" for administrations
Another of the concrete actions developed by Correos to promote the development of the rural area is the incorporation of new administrative services that can be managed in its network of offices.
Correos is actively working to offer in its offices all the administrative services that all levels of local, regional and state administration wish. In this way, it aspires to become the "one-stop shop" that brings administrative services closer to citizens, making their lives easier and saving travel, because that also contributes to fixing population to the territory.
Solutions against financial
exclusion Among the initiatives being carried out by Correos in rural areas, those that aim to combat financial exclusion also stand out in particular.
Among them, the agreements that Correos maintains with financial institutions such as Banco Santander, Ibercaja, Evo Bank or Banco Mediolanum stand out, which allows, through the "Correos Cash" service, to make deposits and cash withdrawals in the offices, with the possibility of sending Money, through the postmen, to any address or natural person in Spain.
Another action to actively combat financial exclusion is the installation of 129 ATMs in different locations in Spain, 20 of which belong to very small towns that have been chosen in collaboration with the Commissioner for the Demographic Challenge. In this way, Correos helps the inhabitants of these municipalities to continue to have access to cash.
Last November, the tender for the installation of another 1,500 ATMs throughout Spain was awarded, whose specific location is currently in the definition phase. The objective of Correos is to actively contribute to the fight against financial exclusion, so the installation of ATMs in rural areas and localities with difficult access to bank offices will prevail.
Correos Market: boosting online sales of local producers and SMEs.
Correos has decided to support local producers and SMEs and help them overcome the marketing problems they encountered because they did not have a good logistics solution. In addition, it helps them with the complete logistics process that also includes storage and the largest distribution network in our country.
The "Correos Market" platform already has more than 1,234 sellers who market more than 15,000 products through "Correos Market", to which Correos does not charge commissions, to help boost the Spanish productive fabric and get their products anywhere in Spain and Portugal.
In short, taking advantage of the knowledge and trust that inspires the Correos brand, the Spanish public company will continue working to promote the development of the rural economy and facilitate the lives of people who have chosen to live in that environment, thus contributing to fix population in the territory.
