Surveillance and protection in the municipality is enhanced, ranging from environmental preservation to traffic control and road safety
The City Council of La Oliva has incorporated a new high-tech drone to the resources for the Local Police. This technological advance not only strengthens the surveillance and control capabilities of the municipality, but also consolidates La Oliva as a benchmark in security within the Island of Fuerteventura.
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, highlighted the importance of this acquisition, stating: "Today we are here presenting the new drone that we incorporated into the Local Police of La Oliva. Our initial objective was to improve citizen security in the municipality and in less than a year the data says that we have achieved it. Thanks to this type of action, we are today the safest municipality in all of Fuerteventura".
For his part, the First Deputy Mayor, Julio Santana, highlighted the versatility of this tool, which will allow surveillance to be extended not only to the perimeter of the municipality, but also to areas of difficult access such as Isla de Lobos. "It is a fundamental tool that can reach the Island of Lobos and verify what is being done there. For us, it is a very important tool that will facilitate the work of our local Police," Santana said.
The Deputy Inspector of the Local Police of La Oliva explained that the drone significantly expands the unit's capacity to act, improving its flight capacity and allowing it to intervene in a wide range of situations, from environmental issues to traffic surveillance and road safety.
Juanjo Canosa, Manager of Expo Drone Service, the drone's supplier company, emphasized the innovation and efficiency of this acquisition: "We are talking about the latest in this type of innovation, with a battery that lasts more than 40 minutes, wind resistance suitable for Canarian Weather and a speed that allows important distances to be covered in a matter of minutes."
The incorporation of this drone is part of a comprehensive plan to reinforce citizen security, which has proven its effectiveness by contrasting crime data in La Oliva with those of other municipalities on the island. While the rate of criminal cases has increased significantly in most municipalities, according to the latest data from the Ministry of the Interior, La Oliva stands out for being the one with the least increase, consolidating itself as a model to follow in terms of security in Fuerteventura.
