Jason. Surely the 'Force Majeure' clause comes into play. Speak with a lawyer if you don't want to rush into it right now.

My Money is in Spain and I’d rather have the property than the cash but take your point. I think us foreigners could be prevented from visiting for some months, if not longer. If any owners currently residing in Fuerteventura return home to the Uk you may not be coming back for sometime.

Morning guys, we are still here on the island in lock down complying with all the regulations.
We noticed that one of the lettable villas on Las Estancia had new occupants and yesterday after our midday roof terrace wave party the folk who live next to this villa were talking to the occupants so we enquired as to who they were and why were they there. It turns out they are buying one of the new apartments and were staying in one of the hotels pending completion and as the hotel has had to close they have been accommodated in this villa. Not sure who arranged and is paying for the villa rental, will try and find out. This couple appear to have been living here or some where in Spain for some time as they have an older Merc right hand drive car with Spanish reg plates. They also indicated that there was also a hold up on completion as the Notary was not working. On this last point I don't understand why the lawyers and Notary are not working as I have just seen the post re now being able to have 2 people in a car for permitted activities which clearly indicates professional services are permitted - part of the announcement The Secretary - general for transport and mobility, Maria José Rallo, has emphasized, in the press conference of the technical Committee of the Coronavirus, that, from today onwards two people can travel in the same car, the driver and one passenger in the back seat, provided that it is for the activities authorised in the royal decree, not for leisure or any other use. Authorized activities are: Food, pharmaceutical and primary - necessity; assistance to health facilities, services and facilities; the placement of the workplace to work in the workplace, professional or business; return to the place of habitual residence; care and care for older, Minor, dependent persons, persons with disabilities or particularly vulnerable persons. Also, the displacement to financial and insurance institutions, the force of force majeure or of necessity and the reposting of gas stations or gas stations. (EFE)

Thanks John.
I believe a number of buyers may be using the same lawyer, Beatriz Alvarez Martinez, does anyone know her personally or professionally, is she safe and well on the island? I did email her recently but have nothing back, i will post to the forum if i receive a reply.

Hi Jason, we to are using Beatriz for our purchase, dropped a mail to her yesterday as I only received Tamara’s mail yesterday pm. Had no reply which I thought odd as she is usually very good ,the health issues explain it. Hope she is ok .
If you didn’t give Beatriz power of attorney, you need to be there in person to sign contracts which in current climate is impossible. Anjoca must allow for that , after all development was 2 month late completing and no one has looked to the bank guarantee scheme for a refund.

Derry, had contact from Beatriz yesterday afternoon. She has power of attorney so all good. You are right we could all have invoked the clause and to my knowledge no one did. My Money is in Spain and hardly feels safe even with government guarantees. I have asked Beatriz to complete the purchase only when she feels safe to do so which I think she appreciated. To me it would make sense for all her clients to complete the same day where she has power of attorney. I had to send her proof of payments so she can prepare a completion schedule.
Look forward to catching up with you all one day soon.
