Okay, I've been to change my TIE, all according to DavidP instructions, many thanks. Points to note, my appointment was 12.35pm and as I was early in Rosario I went next door to get my photos 5€ for 4 pics, went into Police at 12.05pm and was taken at 12.15pm by a lovely Police lady, no English and I have very limited Spanish, no probs with language barrier. As mentioned by DavidP about form EX23 the lady studied it got me to sign the bottom and she wrote TIE Brexit on top and kept it, very strange. My padron was also kept again very strange, only index fingerprints on both hands taken. Told to come back in 45 days with paperwork given, old TIE and passport.

My wife has her appointment on 16th April, again we will go armed to the teeth.

As suggested by the Policia on receipt of my permanente I went and re-registered my empadron at la oliva,
The 5 years had expired in Jan anyway.

I know it seems unlikely but is there now a link betwixt Policia and town councils for foreigners??
No problems except that I asked if now UK is out of Europe did I have to come back in 2 or 5 years.
The lady perused my TIE and emphatically said 5 years.
I did refer to Inglaterra not UK and also used EU not UE.
It seems to revolve around the Art.18.4 on the back which implies we were EU citizens at the point of application of the green cards.
I might just wait until a viaje is refused!!!!

My wife had her appointment today to change from Temporary to Permanente, we were taken 10mins early by this grumpy Police officer, bald head, glasses and a small thin beard. After all the pleasantries on my wife's part he said something we didn't understand, he looked at the TIE back and front then grunted, the nice Police lady that I dealt with stood to the side of him, he looked at all the paperwork and studied modelo 790 and pointed to the bottom as it hadn't printed completely, see photo and again grunted, the lady and him had a conversation then he stamped the bottom of form. Took fingerprints index finger left and right, kept form EX23 and wrote Brexi and a scribble of some sort, kept padron, given paperwork back and the lady told us to come back in 45 days. He either took a dislike to us or just doesn't like his job or foreigners.

I watched him dealing with others whilst I was waiting.
He's just a misery.
Mind you I think I would be doing that job every day.

Does anyone know or have an opinion as to whether there is a validity limit for the 790.
A friend may have to cancel his policia appointment, but has already paid his 790.
Are the policia concerned about the date or just need to know that it has been paid.
My thoughts are that as long is it used within 3 months of payment it should be OK.

I wouldn't have thought it had an expiry date, but that's been logical rather than Spanish. The document proves that you have paid the fee, the date you paid it is not really relevant, as long as it has been paid.

However, I stand to be corrected, if anyone knows different.

Tom.

No not per-se.
The Police officer told me to to come back in 45 days,NOT before.
Plus, on the form you were given there is a LOTE number.
You can check on line (where you made your original appointment) when your LOTE number has actually arrived in Puerto.
It was 6 weeks exactly for me.
When you go in show the guy at the desk your paperwork and he will wave you through.
Then in my case I jumped the queue(legitimately) another set of fingerprints and I was on my way out in 3 minutes with my precious permanente.
