The Vaccination Programme
#71
I had my second vaccine this afternoon. There wasn't a queue at 2.45pm and the system was efficient as there were 5 people giving the vaccinations, ensuring a fast turnover of people aged 60-69.

I registered for my second AZ jab at Centro de Salud on 20/05/21 and am still waiting for my sms text for appointment. As it seems to be a long wait (nearly 4 weeks), i went into the health centre yesterday to check if there was a problem. My concern is even though i wrote my Spanish mobile number on a piece of paper, it was recorded incorrectly (eg 1 for 7 and vice versa) and that sms message will never arrive. The person who i spoke to gave me a number to ring and when i tried, it was a vaccine helpline in Spanish so not much help. Any suggestions?

How long ago did you have your first AZ jab? They seem to be giving the 2nd at around 10 weeks now. I had my 2nd jab on Wednesday, got the sms on Monday eve.

My 2nd Astrazeneca in Puerto del Rosario was exactly 12 weeks after the first, which is the recommended time.

Hi Tamara, sorry i should have mentioned my first AZ jab was in the UK on 11th of March. I am back in Fuerteventura for residency so missed my 2nd UK jab planned for 27/05/21. I made the staff at the health centre aware of this as i had my UK NHS documentation with me and they took photocopies. I would have expected to have had it sooner than this so can only guess there has been an issue, possibly with spanish mobile number as i have been waiting to receive the appointment by sms text.

I think I'd get a Spanish speaker to phone on your behalf! If you don't know someone personally who could do it for you I think it would be worth employing a translator - it's important!
The other Tamara on this forum is a translator and a very nice young lady! Good luck  Fingers Crossed

DiariodeFuerteventura

Almost 40 percent of the target population of the Canary Islands is already immunized against COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has administered 1,767,711 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19, of the 1,966,770 received, which represents 89.88 percent of those received in the Canary Islands.
In addition, until yesterday the immunization of 739,038 people who have already received the complete vaccination schedule against the Coronavirus had been achieved, which represents 39.50 percent of the target population of the Canary Islands. Likewise, in the Archipelago there are already 1,103,033 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, that is, 58.98 percent of the target population.
The vaccination schedule is being developed by the target population groups to which it is directed and by available vaccine destined for each age group according to the National Vaccination Strategy against COVID-19. In this sense, the vaccination teams in each basic health zone are advancing with each population group as the previous one ends, prioritizing continuing with the maximum coverage of each age group, without the vaccination process being paralyzed on any island .
Group coverage
After immunization with two doses of groups 1 and 2 (those corresponding to residents and workers of social health centers and first-line health professionals), vaccination continues with the rest of the groups established following the criteria of vulnerability and exposure.
It should be noted that group 4, that of large household dependents, is 76.23 percent immunized with the two doses. Regarding group 5, made up of people over 66 years of age who do not reside in nursing homes, there are already 233,001 people who have received the two doses, that is, 80.73 percent, while it has been fully completed percent vaccination with a dose of this group, made up of 287,448 people.
Group 3 is already one hundred percent with one dose and 77.96 percent with two doses; and group 6, made up of 66,000 people, which includes teachers, firefighters and Police, 79.53 percent already have a dose, while 75.13 percent are already immunized.
Vaccination coverage has also been completed with a dose of group 7, which includes the population under 60 years of age at risk of severe COVID-19, since 12,300 people have been vaccinated, while 80, 16 percent of this group has already received the two doses.
On the other hand, 118,705 people between 60 and 65 years old that make up group 8 have already received a dose, which represents 77.85 percent of that group; while 41.51 percent already have immunization. Regarding group 9, made up of people between 50 and 59 years old, 83.22 percent have already received one dose, and 72.60 percent of that age group already have both doses.
The inoculation of group 10, which includes people aged between 40 and 49 years, has also progressed so that 139,900 people, 43.44 percent have received at least one dose, while the 20.18 percent are already immunized. As for group 11, made up of people between 30 and 39 years old, 20.35 percent already have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
For its part, group 12, made up of people between the ages of 20 and 29, already has coverage with a dose of 2.28 percent, which is 5,752 vaccinated people.
Population groups to be vaccinated
In the latest revision of the National Vaccination Strategy, the following vaccination and prioritization groups are established:
Stage I:
-Group 1. Residents and health and social health personnel who work in homes for the elderly and care for large dependents.
-Group 2. Front-line personnel in the health and social-health field (different from group 1).
-Group 3. Other health and socio-health personnel (not included in group 2).
-Group 4. People considered highly dependent (grade III) and main caregivers.
Stage II:
-Group 5. Vulnerable people due to their age, non-residents of senior centers
-Group 6. Active groups with an essential function for society.
-Group 7. People with very high risk conditions. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, solid organ transplantation and waiting list for it, people on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, oncohematological diseases, solid organ cancer being treated with cytotoxic, metastatic chemotherapy or with radiotherapy for tumors of thoracic location with risk of pneumonitis, Primary immunodeficiencies, HIV infection with less than 200 cells / ml despite effective ART and undetectable viral load, and Down syndrome aged 40 and over.
-Group 8. People between 60 and 65 years of age (born between 1956 and 1961, both inclusive).
-Group 9. People between 50 and 59 years of age (born between 1962 and 1971, both inclusive).
-Group 10. People between 40 and 49 years of age (born between 1972 and 1981, both inclusive).
- Group 11. People between 30 and 39 years of age (born between 1982 and 1991, both inclusive).
- Group 12. People between 20 and 29 years of age (born between 1992 and 2001, both inclusive).
