Hi All,

I have used Pluscar dozens of times. Faultless every time. Big fan.

But I am in the process of booking another three weeks car hire later in the year and was told to check out Autoreisen as an alternative. 

Pluscar is quoting €239 whereas Autoreisen is €175. That’s a big saving !! 

I don’t like the idea of queuing at the desk vs the quick getaway from the car park with Pluscar, and am uncomfortable with the uncertainty of a new company vs the tried and tested Pluscar but the saving is very tough to overlook. 

Can anyone provide any further info on the current Autoreisen setup ? I want the same arrangements as with Pluscar, namely no extras, no deposit, no Money restricted on Credit cards and simply bring the car back with the same fuel as before. 

Any thoughts very gratefully received.

Thanks. I have booked with Autoreisen (no upfront deposit required) and will keep an eye on Pluscar prices to see if they fall to a similar level (doubt it very much) when I would swap my booking over to them. I would prefer to stick with Pluscar but will endure some queuing etc to save €65. 

Any more comments re the current Autoreisen ?

Handed back our Goldcar rental yesterday & all good surprisingly!! I was all ready for a argument with the check in guy. I was told “only one bit of damage” when I picked up but surprise surprise, there was loads so took pics of all. Wanted to ask the check out guy a question regarding the size of scrape & he was straight down my throat “your job to check car, not mine” before I had even asked the question !! My answer to that was “well I will just take pics of EVERYTHING then”. Took about 20 pics of car & he had to stand waiting for me to finish & make the changes to the pick up sheet before he could sign it. Anyway, all worked out ok. Guy at check in said all ok after a v quick check around & said it would be emailed to me, just waiting for that but if any issues my wife was a witness & saw him press the send on his pad.

To be fair, I also think things are a bit subjective !! Most people hate Orlando. I have booked with them numerous times & never had a problem. Probably all a bit Marmite TBH 😁😁

We used Autoreisen last week, paperwork & car collection was pretty quick as I had inputted the information online before arrival, they send you an email to do this, paid by credit card on arrival, car was ok, during the week the service light came on, that's not necessarily an issue but about 10km from the airport when returning the vehicle the tyre pressure sensor indicator illuminated on the dash, pulled in as had to refuel & checked tyres, all seemed ok, dropped keys back & let them know, they didn't seem worried, said they'd check it out, the cynic in me thinks it got a quick hoover & wash & rehired.

Using Cicar in September, have always got new vehicles & excellent service in the past.

I don't hate Orlando nor Goldcar. But even if there wasn't the fuel and insurance scam/hard sale I would still have one more issue with both companies. They pick the customers up and take them to their office. That's like one hour wasted. We do quite a few short trips to Fuerteventura and don't really have the extra hour. Rather book with PlusCar, CiCar or Payless and spend the extra time in the water 🏊

Again, I think that is subjective. I regularly hired from Orlando although their price quotes have been out of the ballpark last few times I looked & generally get picked up by bus, into & out of the office pronto, maybe 1/2 hr to 3/4 hr tops. I have also stood in the queue at the hire desks in the airport for well over an hour. Swings & roundabouts I suppose !!

Wait times at airport can be a bit hit and miss from past experience, even had it one time where my car was in Lanzarote waiting for me  , any ideas how much a taxi to Corralejo costs from the airport as thinking might be less stress to order car for pick up in resort instead, doing same in October at Caleta but have a week in Corallejo week before Christmas.
