What's the weather like? - December 2018

Yes – yesterday was fantastic, better than forecast, the temperature in our sunny sheltered spot got up to high 30’sC, IMO the wind was not as strong as forecast.

 
 

This morning at 6.15am clear starry sky and a very heavy dew, by 7.15 the sky was clear overhead and to the east for a great sunrise however to the SW there is a high thin cloud bank building, 15C

 
 

Today’s Caleta forecast – 

Clear sunny morning some light cloud building from 2pm with temperature reaching 22C by mid-day and a UV factor of 4 at the same time, temp to increase to 23c at 3pm, visibility good at 16km+

Wind from E this morning at 8 to 12mph moving ESE from lunchtime increasing slightly to a maximum of 14mph.

Tindaya - Wednesday

A gorgeous day with wispy high cloud and a stronger breeze (E or SE). By mid evening it was blowing a gale (E) and still is as I write this!

Morning from Caleta on this National Holiday day.

Yesterday was as forecast, the cloud that appeared was high and wispy as can be seen in the pictures.

 
 

This morning very calm 15C at 7.15am with a heavy dew and  few high wispy clouds, another great sunrise.

What cloud there is will clear to leave a sunny day with temperature to reach 24C at 3pm with a UV factor of 4 at mid-day, good visibility of 16km+.

Wind currently from NNW at 5mph increasing to 12mph by 11am moving N to NNE / NE at 12 to 13mph for the rest of the day.

Tindaya - Thursday
The gales continued all night and day, from E or SE. The thick foul calima arrived just after first light and stayed all day - it was so bad you could taste it. Definitely not a day for going outside if you could help it.

6.30am. Just checked outside. The sky is clear and stars shining brightly, some condensation. Temperature 18°C.

I agree about how the Weather on the island varies, we went to Happy Plants yesterday and Paul and the staff were tidying up after the overnight gales which had blown over a number of the olive trees. Whilst we were there the wind was much stronger than in Caleta.

Caleta yesterday much as forecast the cloud clear but late afternoon it came back to give a hazy end to the day, and the wind was quite strong.

This morning 7.30am very overcast, 16C, no wind, some condensation on the roof terrace floor but non elsewhere.

 

Todays Caleta forecast - A hazy day, temperature up to 23C from 1pm to 4pm, a UV factor of up to 2 11am to 2pm, visibility 16km+ all day.  Wind from the NE all day 7 to 10mph up to 4pm then increasing to 12/13mph for the rest of the day.

Tindaya - Friday

Still very windy at first light and some great coloured skies (red in the morning etc!)

 

Late morning and it was still very hazy at sea, the dirty calima could still be seen. Armas from Arrecife to Las Palmas passing Fred from Las Palmas to Arrecife! 
The gales had completely died away, the temp shot up, eye of the storm maybe?

   

Late afternoon saw the clouds spilling over the mountains again and a strong breeze was back:

   

Sunset brought some nice colour to the sky and yet more of the butterflies - swarms of painted ladies all day.
