If you put this address into Google Maps, it comes up:
Calle los Hormigas 1, 35600, Puerto del Rosario If I’ve copied it correctly, this link should also work: https://www.google.com/maps/place//@28.5...675386,20z There is a car park right in front now, doesn’t show on Google Maps or Earth, and a big car park a two minute walk away on the other side of the main road , Calle Juan de Bethencourt.

OK, thanks to Steve Lipner, everything went smoothly yesterday. First we went to the photo/copier shop near the main Police station to get uptodate passport photos and missing copies of driving license and residencia. Then upto the place round the corner from Trafico for my health test. I read somewhere to make a note of my height and weight but this wasn't required. First did the little coordination test, which was very simple but something I had been very apprehensive about. Then a simple eye check. Wearing my glasses, obviously, read a line using only left eye then right eye then both eyes. Having forgotten my Spanish alphabet I used English, much to Mr Lipner chagrin. Lastly a few few questions about general health like was I on any medication, did I need tablets to sleep at night, had I had surgery recently. Finally took my photo and that was it. Lastly round to Trafico for our appointment, a few minutes early. Place was almost empty, Steve said it was heaving the day before. Still had to wait as there was only one bloke on for a while.
Medical cost €45, Trafico €28.30 - NOTE - only payment by card accepted, not cash at Trafico. At Trafico apart from the application form, you need your passport and a copy, your empadron and a copy, copies of front and back of your driving license, residencia and copies of front and back (I think that was it). Just to show the vagaries of the system, Steve said sometimes you have to surrender your UK license (and you get a piece of paper as your temporary license) and sometimes you don't. Yesterday I didn't have to, the day before they did. I guess it depends on which side of the bed the chap got out of that morning. You can ask to pick up the license when it is ready (they text you) if your post is not very reliable (ours isn't). Hope this is helpful - of course it may be totally different next week.

TF
can you clarify something for me, you refer to a coordination test, is that where you use a couple of joysticks to control something on a screen? and can you confirm this was done where you got your medical check, and not at Trafico?

I know one of the people that administer that test. I asked if you failed if you got too many beeps (off road!) but she said what it was testing was reaction. So don't worry about beeps, just get back on track promptly and keep going - don't stop. She also told me about one person who has a medical condition and found the test quite hard. He 'failed' 3 tests, immediately after each other, but they still ticked the box for having completed the test!
