The problems we have are getting worse. They poo everywhere, including in the pool, and are becoming a safety hazard. Does anyone know of a company on the island that deals with the problem?
Is it worth contacting the Cabildo for help.
Thanks.....

Radio Sintonia:
Fuerteventura fights for the preservation of the natural environment during the summer.
The Cabildo stresses the importance of both tourists and residents adopting sustainable habits to preserve the environment in good condition. In addition, it reports that around 150 disciplinary proceedings are currently being processed, which were initiated after complaints filed by agents of the authority.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, under the direction of Carlos Rodríguez, who directs the Environment and Hunting Area, calls on tourists and residents to enjoy this summer on the island respecting and protecting its coasts, beaches, natural parks and endemic species that inhabit the island. It is essential that the population adopts sustainability habits to preserve the environment in good condition and thus reduce the ecological footprint.
Fuerteventura has unique geological, erosive and ecosystem characteristics. The island has an extensive area of coastal areas that are home to an endemic biodiversity unique in the world, which could be seriously affected by the effects of climate change.
Also, the nature of the island offers the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of activities during the summer, such as exploring the Rural Park of Betancuria or the Natural Park of Jandía. Regardless of the destination chosen, it is essential to adopt environmentally friendly behaviors to avoid its deterioration. This implies respecting the indications and regulations of natural spaces, not discarding waste and avoiding disturbing native species.
There are areas on the island that are home to unique species of the island, both for their environmental and historical value. It is crucial not to take specimens from these places, as this can affect the balance of ecosystems. It also warns about the danger of harmful practices such as the plundering of stones, shells and other elements of the environment such as rhodoliths, which have become a counterproductive tourist attraction in recent years.
Moreover, all visitors and residents are reminded of the importance of not leaving garbage on the beaches, as most waste ends up in the sea, causing irreparable damage. In addition, emphasis is placed on the need to reduce the amount of garbage generated by reusing plastic bags as many times as possible.
It is important to take proper precautions with cigarette butts to prevent pollution on beaches. It is essential to use the ashtrays designated for your deposit, and if you do not have one, store them until you find a suitable place to dispose of them.
Finally, it is necessary to respect the existing roads and trails on the island. Driving vehicles in pristine areas leaves a lasting impact that takes decades to fade, and creates a path for other users to follow. This practice not only damages the landscape, but also harms wild animals and plants that need their space to live and reproduce. It is of utmost importance that the roads and trails already established are respected, whether by vehicle, on foot or by bicycle.
The Insular Institution and the Ministry of Environment trust in the responsibility and commitment of all citizens, tourists and residents to preserve the natural beauty of Fuerteventura, ensuring that future generations can enjoy all that this island has to offer.
DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS
The Protected Natural Areas and the spaces included in the Natura 2000 Network present in Fuerteventura are protection figures established in European, state and regional legislation. Its objective is to establish a legal regime for the conservation, sustainable use, enhancement and restoration of natural heritage and biodiversity.
At present, around 150 disciplinary proceedings initiated by complaints from environmental authority agents are being carried out. Most of these infractions are related to parking outside the designated areas in the Natural Park of Corralejo and Jandía, as well as non-compliance with the rules of visiting the Montaña de Tindaya Natural Monument. In addition, a constant effort is being made to successfully complete the processing of complaints sent abroad.
From the Ministry of Environment calls on the local population and visitors to respect and comply with the rules of conservation and protection of protected natural spaces, through civic behaviors that allow the responsible use and enjoyment of all, warning that such administrative infractions can be subject to a pecuniary penalty of up to € 6,000.

Hi all, me and my wife are quite new to naturism, we first went to the beach in Gran Canaria then for our next holiday we stayed @ Parque Vacacional Eden in Tenerife which had a naturist pool in a private area but no beaches nearby.
We want to come to Fuerteventura in November and would like to find an aparthotel with a naturist pool.
We are not looking for a 24-hour naturist resort just a pool/sunbathing area, we don't do all-inclusive we like to explore and find new places to eat and cook for ourselves with the food we get at markets.
Do any of you know a place that will fit the bill?
Thanks in advance

Radio Sintonia:
Puerto del Rosario once again boasts of beaches with the Blue Flag award.
From this Friday, July 7, the beaches ofLos Pozos, Puerto Lajas and Playa Blanca wear the blue flags with which they were awarded last May by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands. An award that distinguishes them as spaces of clean, safe, comfortable waters, respectful with the environment and equipped with complementary services according to their purpose of use and enjoyment, as pointed out by the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), entity that grants the award.
Puerto del Rosario once again boasts of Blue Flag
The act of hoisting the blue flag was attended by the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, the Councilor for Beaches, Toñi Fernández Aragón, and the Councilor for Tourism, Juan Jiménez, accompanied by part of the lifeguard team that provides its rescue services on the municipal beaches.
"The municipal group continues to work for the opening to the sea and for quality through the maintenance of activities and the development and improvement of accessibility, mobility and infrastructures associated with the beaches of this municipality," said David de Vera, who added that "the hoisting and maintenance of the blue flag is very important for this municipal group, Because it is a guarantor of quality and the kindness of this municipality towards those who visit us and their neighbors. We will continue working to maintain the quality of our beaches and especially the services associated with them."
The beach of Los Pozos has been awarded the Blue Flag since 2015, which means that it is hoisted for the ninth consecutive year. In the case of Playa Blanca, it has held the award since 2010 and Puerto Lajas, since 2012.
Continuous work to improve the beaches
For the Councilor for Beaches, Toñi Fernández Aragón, "these blue flags transmit the good conditions we have on the most important beaches of Puerto del Rosario and we are already working on new projects to make them friendlier for our neighbors and visitors. From the Department of Beaches we want to recover 'Sol y Luna' for next year, a festival that marked the beginning of summer and that the whole family could enjoy. "
For his part, the Councilor for Tourism, Juan Jiménez, explained that "this distinction speaks of the quality of our beaches and how the City Council takes care of these environments that are so important to us, especially considering that we are the gateway for the two million tourists who arrive in Fuerteventura, either by plane or through the cruise ship pier. In this sense it is important that they can visit our beaches and that they have benefits according to those that both visitors and residents deserve".
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario continues to work to carry out improvements in the beaches of the municipality, guaranteeing comfort in the accesses, especially to people with reduced mobility, so that they can continue to enjoy these spaces. In addition, services are maintained in which the municipality is a reference such as free sunscreen dispensers at the entrance of the three blue flag beaches in order to raise awareness among beach users of the importance of using sun protection for the skin and avoid the damage that the sun can cause in the users of the beaches.

Radio Sintonia:
The Cabildo urges the Government of the Canary Islands to immediately paralyze the PTECAN to avoid the deterioration of the majorero landscape.
The Ministry of Territorial Planning of the Cabildo has requested the Government of the Canary Islands to immediately paralyze the processing of the Canary Islands Energy Transition Plan 2030 (PTECAN). A plan that delimits the areas to install renewable energy infrastructures on the island and that could cause an unprecedented impact on the landscape and the territory of Fuerteventura.
Avoiding "mistakes of the past"
The PTECAN establishes 134 square kilometers to install wind turbines, increasing the power from 77 to 241 megawatts in a framework of seven years, as well as a space of similar length for the placement of photovoltaic plants. In the case of solar parks, the power would increase from 26 to 78 megawatts by 2030.
The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, said that "the institutions and society of Majorera must be heard and respected. We are not going to allow mistakes of the past to be repeated and to be planned from an office to respond to the interests of multinationals at the expense of the rural and natural environment of Majorero".
Fuerteventura decides
For her part, the Minister of the area, Nereida Calero, has written to the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the General Directorate of Energy, asking that this procedure be paralyzed, "since, a priori, it seems that the powers of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura in terms of planning are being invaded. It is the insular institution and the majorera society that must decide where these infrastructures are implemented and not the Government of the Canary Islands".
In addition, "these documents were published coinciding with the day on which the elections were called, with the governments of the institutions dissolved or in office."
"The first thing we have done when we arrived at the Cabildo is to inform us of the situation in which he was and get to work on this matter. However, we have not had the time to be able to carry out the detailed and exhaustive analysis that such a matter requires. For this reason, if the process is not suspended, we ask that, at least, the deadline for submitting allegations be extended," he explained.
Nereida Calero also adds that "we have presented this letter now, but we will do it again when the new Government of the Canary Islands takes office."
Defense of the Landscape
The Ministry of Territorial Planning has also asked the Directorate General of Agriculture to paralyze the processing of the Draft Regulation Regulating Agricultural Uses and Complementary Uses. A plan that establishes a unique model for the Autonomous Community and that supposes an unprecedented landscape impact in Fuerteventura, given that the cultivated and arable areas are changed or totally reduced.
"This is an even more serious situation, because we find the deadline for allegations expired (June 16). It was also published on the same date as the call for elections and we did not take office until the 26th. In this case, what is done is to urgently request that the document be paralyzed, given that the particularities of each island are not taken into account and what for others could have value, for Fuerteventura it is a serious deterioration, "he concludes.

Radio Sintonia:
Fuerteventura, an island divided by two kingdoms.
The archaeological site, La Pared de Jandía, is located on the isthmus that connects the Jandía Peninsula with the rest of the island, in the municipality of Pájara. It consists of a stone wall that, according to documentary references, crossed the island from north to south, from the windward coast to the leeward coast along the Isthmus of Jandía, in a length of 6 km, and about 40 structures attached to it or in its vicinity.
Historical references of wall
The first historical references about this site are collected from the fifteenth century, in the French chronicle of the conquest, Le Canarien, where they allude to the existence of it;
The island of Erbania, which is said to be Fuerteventura, contains 24 French leagues long and 7 wide, and at a certain point is only one league. There is a large and wide wall that takes the whole country from one sea to the other (Le Canarien. 1980:65).
But there is such a point, in that it contains no more than a league from sea to sea. That region is sandy, and there is a great stone wall that crosses the whole country, from one bank to another (Le Canarien. 1980: 167).
More references
In the seventeenth century the archaeological site is represented in the cartography of Yñigo de Brizuela (Juan Tous Meliá. Study and Editing. 2000:71), crossing the Isthmus of Jandía. Later, in the cartography of Francisco Coello, XIX century (Pascual Madoz. Maps and plans of Francisco Coello. 1986) appears again with the toponym of La Pared and drawn on the ground from one side of the island to the other. Also in the cartography of Marcial Velázquez of 1849 (Map of Fuerteventura. Canary Islands. Maps of the Geographic Center of the Army), points to the site with the name of the Wall and represents it crossing the island by the Isthmus of Jandía.
Toponym of La Pared
The toponym of Bahía de La Pared also appears in the eighteenth century on the maps of José Varela y Ulloa (Spherical chart of the coast of Africa from Cape Spartel to Cape Bojador and Canary Islands. 1787) and Vicente Tofiño de San Miguel (Atlas marítimo de España, year 1789. Spherical chart of a part of the Atlantic Ocean. Year 1788).
The act nº 477 of the Agreements of the Cabildo (R. Roldán Verdejo / Delgado González, C. 1967: 247) indicates in the eighteenth century the existence of La Pared: to those who are taking orchillas in the Dehesa de Jandía, nor of those who have the lessor of said orchillas of the wall.
Two Kingdoms
The traveler René Verneau in the eighteenth century (1981: 152), also collects for this site, the following: a short distance from Chilegua ends the great island or land of Majorata. As soon as you turn around Cardon Mountain, you see an isthmus six miles long by two and a half miles wide.
It is the isthmus of La Pared, so called because it is closed, to the north, by an immense wall, which formerly divided the kingdoms of Majorata and Jandía.
The two kings rarely lived in good harmony and this wall protected each other from the aggressions of the enemy. Even today there is the same enmity between the majoreros and the shepherds of the peninsula of Jandía. Virtually, the wall persists, and since some cattle cross it, they are immediately captured by the neighbor.
One of the most important majorero deposits
La Pared is one of the most important archaeological sites of the pre-European stage of Fuerteventura and also the largest, in terms of its extension, in the territory and number of structures that make it up.
Due to the complexity of the archaeological site of La Pared, for its description the structure itself of the wall has been separated from the structures integrated into it.
The structure of La Pared de Jandía.
La Pared is located to the NW of the Peninsula of Jandía almost on the coastline, about 50 meters above sea level next to the coast of Laja Blanca, at the foot of a small mountain about 90 meters high, preserved in short stretches that end in Montaña de Pasa Si Puedes, where it has two ramifications, one that coincides with the aforementioned Laja Blanca and another that starts from the point of the coast located between Baja del Erizo and Punta de Guadalupe. Both branches join near the foot of Pasa Si Puedes Mountain. After this section La Pared is lost, affected by the road that crosses the Isthmus and especially by the infrastructure works of the urbanization called La Pared. It appears again to the south of the urbanization, next to a water tank located next to the road, and continues almost straight to the south sea or leeward, passing through the degollada de Pedro Ponce and running on the slope of the Barranco de los Cuchillos, which flows into the coast of Matas Blancas.
Distance from the wall
The Wall runs parallel to the fence of Gustav Winter Klingele, disappearing where the Barranco de los Cuchillos forks with the Barranco Vachuelo de los Hernández, to appear in the vicinity of a farm dedicated, in the past, to the plantation of tomato trees. From there to the Casas de Matas Blancas are detected, almost in a straight line, the remains of the structure of La Pared, which are altered by mechanical shovel, among other causes.
The above mentioned comes to confirm the data of the chronicle of the conquest Le Canarien; that La Pared closed the Isthmus from coast to coast. Likewise, the data collected by ancient historians and researchers closest to our era such as Sebastián Jiménez Sánchez (in 1946), Elías Serra Rafols (in 1959-60), and the various studies carried out throughout history; Archaeological prospections, oral historiography, etc., indicate that La Pared, located on the Isthmus of Jandía, extended from sea to sea, from windward to leeward.
The footprint of man and the deterioration of history
The current height of the structure rarely exceeds 80 cm in the northern part, while the width varies reaching in certain sections between 1 and 1.50 meters. The continuous aggressions that he was and is enduring has caused almost the disappearance of the stretch that reached the coastal area of Matas Blancas. The most aggressive alterations of this section, was the use of the stones of the structure of La Pared for urban constructions, the realization of the road that leads to Morro Jable, which destroyed it in several sectors and the opening of a dirt track that runs parallel to La Pared. This track is currently the most direct aggression on this section.
The Winter Family and the Wall
Another factor to highlight along the route of La Pared, is the presence of the wire fence of the German Gustav Winter Klingele. This metal fence was placed practically attached to La Pared and of which there are still large sections in a dilapidated state. Precisely in the area of Matas Blancas was the door and house of the guard of the large estate, which meant the almost disappearance of the structure at this point, consummating even more with the asphalting of the road and the construction of the fish farm.
Winter's motives for placing a fence were several, although all seem to be related to cattle; It was precisely because of livestock when in the year 62 the Winter family fenced with a barbed wire fence that placed from coast to coast on the isthmus of the wall, made the delimiting border between the peninsula of Jandía and the rest of Fuerteventura. "Our medianeros," says Doña Isabel Winter, "protested because there was a lack of cattle because when the medianeros went to Jandía to graze, since there was no control, they left with more heads of cattle than those who actually entered."
Also to safeguard from contacts with other breeds their cattle "Karakul" of those who entered without any control. "The fences were placed with the sole intention of protecting the property of the cattle, not only ours but also of the ranchers who also worked in the area" (La Provincia. 11: 1991).

Radio Sintonia:
Hydrogen: a pilot project to supply renewable energy to isolated areas.
The Technological Institute of the Canary Islands (ITC), attached to the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, and the companies INYCOM and CAPISA Group have worked together on the installation of an autonomous system based on renewable generation and storage in batteries and hydrogen, capable of supplying the necessary energy for the operation of an agricultural complex located in an area of difficult access to the electricity grid of the municipality of La Aldea of San Nicolás (Gran Canaria), owned by Agropecuaria Furel S.L
REMOTE: maximizing the use of renewable energies
REMOTE, funded by the European Commission through the Horizon 2020 programme, is a demonstration project that includes three off-grid installations in Europe, the first of these pilot systems on the island of Gran Canaria, the second in Agkistro (Greece) and the third in Rye (Norway). This trio of demonstration installations covers the different climatic zones throughout the continent. The objective of the project in all facilities is to maximize the use of renewable energies through the storage of electricity with hydrogen technologies, thus reducing dependence on the use of fossil fuel generator sets.
Hydrogen-based storage systems
In the case of the installation in La Aldea de San Nicolás de Tolentino, the need for this project is justified by the expansion project of Agropecuaria Furel, which has increased its capacity to 2000 head of cattle. This action is associated with an increase in the electricity consumption of the complex, which is being covered by electricity supply based on photovoltaic energy. However, to avoid dependence on backup diesel generators when renewable production is not sufficient, the use of hydrogen-based energy storage systems is necessary.
The total investment made by the consortium, which includes the design, installation, commissioning and operation of the hydrogen plant, amounts to a total of 1.1 million euros. On the other hand, Agropecuaria Furel has made an investment of 1.5 million euros in order to carry out the expansion project (including the new structure of the factory and the new machinery), as well as the installation of the renewable energy generation system (photovoltaic).
Objective
The objective of this expansion project is not only to increase the capacity of the farm, but also its modernization, improvement of productivity, and energy savings associated with the acquisition of new machines that have greater efficiency and allow a better use of resources. This, together with the renewable energy project of the European Union, has made the farm much more sustainable and respectful of the environment.
Avoid dependence on diesel generators
In this context, the local consortium formed by the ITC, Inycom and CAPISA Group, has deployed a system composed of a photovoltaic plant and a hybrid storage system using 100 kW/100 kW batteries combined with a 70kW electrolyser, hydrogen tanks of 50 kg capacity at 200 bars and a 100kW fuel cell. For this implementation, it has been key to have the experience of ITC, the first company to launch a hydrogen storage system in the Canary Islands, and Inycom, with a long history in engineering projects and integration of hydrogen systems, and the collaboration of CAPISA Group as a great connoisseur of the agricultural sector and the energy requirements necessary in this type of facilities.
As a result, the need to support the renewable supply with diesel generators has been significantly reduced, which translates into lower operating costs linked to this fuel for Agropecuaria Furel S.L. In addition, this project aims to position this livestock farm as a European benchmark not only in terms of milk production capacity, but also in terms of innovation with a low or zero electricity supply in greenhouse gas emissions.

The dangers of selfies and photos on the windward coast of Fuerteventura.
'Canary Islands, 1500 Km of Coast' warns of the dangers of taking selfies in certain areas this summer.
The Association for the Prevention of Drownings and Aquatic Accidents, 'Canarias, 1500 Km de Costa', has presented one more year the 'Decalogue to enjoy a safe summer in the water' with the basic preventive tips to avoid or know how to act in a risk situation in each scenario.
Ignoring a red flag, bathing in beaches that lack surveillance, using floats in the sea or being immersed in a 'return current' are the main risk factors that can compromise safety when interacting in any aquatic space. Recklessness can lead to drowning or other types of accidents on beaches, swimming pools, rivers and other bathing areas.
With the arrival of the summer holidays and the hottest summer in history, according to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), coastal areas and tourist establishments throughout the country begin to receive millions of bathers. So, to prevent an accident in the water, from the platform they ask to apply common sense and pay attention to the recommendations, and if you suffer or witness an emergency situation, always call 112.
The 'Decalogue to enjoy a safe summer in the water' includes the basic preventive tips such as avoiding bathing with a red flag. 80% of accidents at sea are caused by not respecting the color of the flag. The red flag means no bathing and is the leading cause of death by drowning. A red flag is a red light; However, the majority of the population admits to continuing to bathe ignoring the risk. Therefore, we must avoid skipping this prohibition.
Another circumstance that generates a higher mortality rate is bathing on beaches without surveillance or during the time slot in which rescue services are not active. From the platform it is warned that a deserted beach lacks a lifeguard and, sometimes, signaling, so if the safety of the bather is compromised, there will be no professional to help him. This circumstance is the third cause of death by drowning.
The 'return current' is another of the main dangers for the bather to be dragged out to sea preventing him from returning to the shore. It is the second leading cause of death by submersion. A 'return current' can have the strength of ten Olympic swimmers. Therefore, if you are in trouble and cannot get out, you do not have to fight against the current. You have to save energy and stay calm, in addition to waving your arms to be seen.
When you are going to fish in coastal points of cliffs or rocky areas, before you always have to consult the Weather forecast, the state of the sea and the wind and make sure you bring the necessary equipment that guarantees our safety before leaving home. Always wear a helmet, appropriate footwear and, above all, a life jacket.
Also, we must never forget that children are the most vulnerable to the aquatic environment. It only takes 27 seconds for a twelve-month-old baby to drown. It is also advised not to use floats in the sea. A float is not a life saver, it is a toy that inflates. Especially dangerous are those that have the shape of an animal (swans, unicorns, flamingos, etc.), since their trunk and head act as a sail effect and will drag the bather out to sea. Circular sleeves and floats have a very questionable security. Therefore, it is advisable to always get into the water with our child.
DEATH IN A MINUTE
The platform 'Canarias, 1500 Km de Costa' places special emphasis on its preventive recommendations for the elderly. Precisely, the profile of the drowned corresponds to a male between 55 and 75 years old. Therefore, it insists on being aware of the physical condition and limitations. A heart attack in the water causes death within a minute.
