Posted by: Sam - 03-08-2025, 10:11 AM - Forum: General Discussions - No Replies

I just received this message from a friend of mine.

English translation:

Dear neighbors, for your information: High Security Notice: Please be aware that there is a group of people going door to door posing as employees of Internal Affairs.

They have documents and letterheads from the Ministry of Interior, Justice, and Peace, claiming that they need to verify that everyone has valid identification for the upcoming census.

They are everywhere and look professional. Someone will come to your house and say, "I want to take your photo/fingerprint for some scheme."

They have a laptop, a biometric machine, and a list of all names. They show the menu and ask for all this information.
Please note that there is no such initiative from the government.
Be aware that all of this is false. Do not give them any information.
Everyone must stay alert and aware!

Why are illegal sellers allowed to sell to bars from Corralejo beach? Why are they selling bedsheets, table clothes on the beach past the RUI hotels, people come to Corralejo to enjoy the beaches and dunes and not to be disturbed bye illegal beach sellers

Looking for a place to stay
Posted by: Maggie76 - 07-07-2025, 09:33 AM - Forum: General Discussions - No Replies

We are a mature couple, have been coming to the island for 5 years for 3 months every winter. Unfortunately the place we normally rent in Corrlejo is no longer available. We are therefore looking for another place to rent for 3 months, flexible on dates and location, and also happy to house sit for part or all of the time - we travel around a lot house/pet sitting normally. Please message me if you have something available. I am looking on the usual booking sites too but not that many people are open for longer lets and the fees are also rather high for longer stays.
Thanks,
Zsuzsa

Canary Islands set for spectacular night sky display with four meteor showers
Posted by: Johnrgby - 21-06-2025, 09:39 AM - Forum: Environmental - No Replies

The skies above the Canary Islands are set to host one of the year’s most varied astronomical spectacles in the next couple of weeks. On the night of 27th June, no fewer than four meteor showers will coincide: the Tau Cetids, Scutids, Rho Sagittarids and the June Bootids.

Although each of these showers typically produces low or irregular activity, their simultaneous appearance makes this one of the most dynamic nights in the astronomical Calendar.

The Bootids, radiating from the constellation Boötes, home to the bright star Arcturus, are particularly unpredictable, with rates varying widely from zero to as many as 100 meteors per hour.

The other showers contribute more modest numbers: the Tau Cetids, originating from the constellation Cetus, usually offer around four meteors per hour; the Scutids, with a mere two, emanate from the faint and hard-to-spot constellation Scutum; and the Rho Sagittarids radiate from Sagittarius, rounding out this quadruple display.

Adding to the spectacle, the event will coincide with a conjunction between the Moon and Mercury, visible in the early hours of the same day.

How and When to Observe the Meteor Showers in the Canary Islands

The meteor showers will be active from 22nd June to 2nd July, with the peak expected during the early hours of 27th June. In the Canary Islands, the optimal viewing time is around 4:00am, when the radiant point of the Bootids remains above the horizon.

No telescopes or binoculars are required to enjoy the display. For the best experience, observers are advised to:

Move away from urban areas to avoid light pollution.
Choose a dark, clear location with an unobstructed view of the sky.
Lie back or recline, looking towards the northeast.
Avoid observing when the Moon is high, as its brightness can diminish the visibility of fainter meteors.
More Showers at the End of the Month

The end of June will bring further, albeit low-activity, meteor showers. On 29th June, three additional showers — the Beta Taurids, Phi Ophiuchids and Tau Aquarids — will occur, each producing around two meteors per hour. Some of these may be visible during daylight hours, making them more challenging to observe.

Favourable Weather conditions across the Canary Islands could significantly enhance visibility for what promises to be a rare and diverse astronomical event.

Hi,

There is a strange man who walk around Corralejo covered in fake tan and oil every night. He has jet black hair and looks a bit like Aladdin. He walks with a proper swagger. If you have seen him you will know exactly who I am referring to.

Does anyone know his name or his insta handle??

  Hotel recommendation in Corralejo

I’m hoping someone can help me find a hotel, in Corralejo or close to, where you can eat breakfast outside rather than in the restaurant. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  Dedicated naturists areas?
Posted by: Mull - 15-05-2025, 10:43 PM - Forum: Naturists - Replies (7)

Hi all, first off I’m don’t consider myself a naturist in the sense of spending time with other naturists or being part of a club etc. I’m not even sure if there’s a big scene here in Ireland, but I do obviously enjoy being naked Blush , so I’ll be spending a week in Corralejo in June with my family who don’t know about my interest in naturism so I’m hoping to slip away for a few hours on my own and spend some time naked on the beach. Are there any dedicated naturists areas close to Corralejo? I’m interested in dedicated areas because I’m not quite sure if I’m ready to be the only naked guy on a beach, not just yet anyway  Blush  . Any info would be greatly appreciated.
