  Earthquakes in The Canaries
Posted by: TamaraEnLaPlaya - 21-11-2018, 12:08 AM - Forum: Environmental - Replies (7)

I'm hoping Jand will join us soon and keep us up to date on all the activity but for now I'll post any occurrences that I hear about on/near to Fuerteventura.

At 21:03 today there was a 2.1 quake roughly midway between Gran Canaria and the southern tip of Fuerteventura.

  When's your next naturist holiday?
Posted by: bedouin - 20-11-2018, 09:26 PM - Forum: Naturists - Replies (14)

It's getting colder and darker in the UK, and thoughts turn to sunnier places.  When's your next naturist holiday?  And where are you thinking of?  For starters, my wife & I are off to Mexico next weekend for 10 days in a naturist hotel - really looking forward to some unseasonal warmth!

Shocked Electron Black Friday Sale rip-off?
Posted by: Ducks - 20-11-2018, 08:29 PM - Forum: Shops & Supermarkets - Replies (9)

Just a small warning for anyone considering buying in the Black Friday sale that starts in Electron tomorrow: items may not be the deal you think they are!

I was investigating a new TV last week and made note of some prices and models. All the TVS I looked at will cost MORE in the sale than they did last weekend! I'm furious about this— at least at home they have the decency to put the price up for a few weeks before the sale so they can actually claim it's a "bargain".

One TV (LG 49UK6300PLB) is currently listed in the sale as €390, down from €459. However, when I looked on the 10th, it was listed in a different sale as €355, down from €399. Based on that, you're actually only saving about €9 in the sale! I don't know how they can say it was previously €459 when they were selling for almost a hundred less than that ten days ago. I thought that was against some kind of EU law...?

There are discounts on some other items which are more genuine (computer peripherals in particular are cheaper than last time I checked), but I wanted to put that out there so people would be aware they might not be getting the deal they appear to be and aren't rushed into buying something thinking it's a great offer that'll only be available for a short period. I'm sure it's not just TVs that this applies to, so keep your wits about you if you're hitting the city in the next couple of days!

Superbarato - Chinese shop in Poligono Industrial El Matorral
Posted by: Archer - 20-11-2018, 04:18 PM - Forum: Shops & Supermarkets - Replies (53)

Just an update on the other Superbarato shop. Got some sustrato compost for my new trees. Yep, it's 50% off. Noticed what appeared to be traders buying up bulk boxes of towels and what looked like soccer scarfs and shirts etc. All at 50% off.
Maybe they are thinking of closing down, as it was busier than the new one.

Visited today (17/11/18) for lunch a really rural bar restaurant well worth a visit. Had the paella of the day followed by tiramisu, in my opinion great value for Money.

See attached photos for menu.

It is a slice of Canarian history.  Lovely 19th century house, lived in for a short time by Miguel de UnaMuno - a noted author of the time. Takes less than an hour to see it all, and it is nicely furnished in the style of the period.

This a post I put up after a visit last March others have been since and it is till just as good -

I can't see this restaurant mentioned anywhere else on here and I think it is well worth a visit. Open from 1pm to 9.45pm each day apart from Wednesday. Menus in Spanish, English & German.  There is both inside and terrace dining with fabulous views
We were a party of 4, had an excellent Tapas lunch of 8 dishes, a dessert each, a bottle of house red and house white, 1 large beer and 3 bottles of water, 108€ which I  think is good value for Money.  The service was friendly and relaxed.
