Restaurante Terrazo del Gato - Costa Calma
Posted by: bedouin - 08-11-2018, 09:43 PM - Forum: Bars & Restaurants - No Replies

We've used this restaurant lots of times when staying at VIK Suite Hotel (the restaurant is on the VIK site). It's consistently pretty good. Good service, no rush. Fresh fish is worth investigating, if you ask nicely they even have a translation sheet which gives the names of local fish in different languages. And they're happy to fillet it for you at the table, or to serve it whole for you to exercise your surgical skills. Worth a visit.

  Corralejo hotel to be re-branded
Posted by: bedouin - 08-11-2018, 04:25 PM - Forum: Hotel Reviews and more... - Replies (4)

The Hesperia Bristol Playa hotel in Corralejo is to be re-branded next year as the "Amigo Fuerteventura Resort".  This follows the appointment of American company AMResorts to handle the branding and sales of the hotel.  The owners of the hotel, Grupo Inversor Hesperia, will inject millions of euros to upgrade the hotel, which is expected to open under the new brand in May 2019.

AMResorts is a resort brand management company with 55 resorts and 21,000 rooms in its current portfolio, plus 10,000 more under development. The company provides sales, marketing and brand management services for Zoëtry® Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets®, Breathless®, Dreams®, Now® and Sunscape® Resorts & Spas. It is one of six companies that comprise ALG, North America’s only vertically integrated hospitality company.  The appointment by Hesperia to handle 4 of their hotels in Europe is AMResorts' first venture in Europe.

The new Amigo Fuerteventura Resort will feature a family-friendly 3-star format, with choices of bed & breakfast, half board and all-inclusive meal plans.

Where else do you go for naturist sunshine?
Posted by: bedouin - 08-11-2018, 08:02 AM - Forum: Naturists - Replies (24)

Fuerteventura without doubt has some of the finest beaches for naturist sunbathing in Europe.  But where else do you go for naturist sunshine?  My wife & I have also been to mainland Spain, Mallorca, France, Greece, as well as the Caribbean.  Apart from Fuerteventura, our favourite maybe is Vera Playa in Spain - not a great beach perhaps but a fabulously laid-back area.

Where are your favourites?

  Sunscreen ban

I read an article online the other day that said a few countries have banned the sale of sunscreen because a chemical in it is supposedly damaged their underwater reefs.

Noticed on our last visit that the Pirate ship in Caleta had sunk, are there plans to repair and re float it....

Also was pleased to see that the floating shop had been returned, had a long and pleasant conversation with the "cat lady"

Does your family know you're naturists?
Posted by: bedouin - 06-11-2018, 11:40 AM - Forum: Naturists - Replies (6)

On our travels to various naturist resorts, my wife and I have met lots of fellow naturists.  Chatting with them, we've been surprised to find that quite a few don't tell their family or friends that they're going to a naturist resort.  And we were even told that some resorts have a dedicated phone number to give to family members, which is answered in the name of a nondescript hotel!

So do you keep your naturism a secret?

  Favourite sunscreen?
Posted by: bedouin - 05-11-2018, 09:25 PM - Forum: General Discussions - Replies (16)

So what's your favourite sunscreen? We use Ultrasun or P20 once-a-day sunscreen, in SPF20 or SPF50 grades.  If you're super-diligent about applying it properly everywhere, it works!  And it isn't too greasy, so sand brushes off fairly easily.
