Coronavirus in Fuerteventura - Discussion
To identify ships you can use the app Ship info. It's like a wet Flight Radar.

Thanks, that's really useful! No more looking out at sea and wondering what those ships are!  Thumbs Up

I use marinetraffic to id vessels, prob much the same.

I think confusion often arises re the accommodation for migrants because translation services often give you 'ship' instead of 'shed'. 🛳️ Or 🏚️ 🤣

It would be nice to know or an official link? to the 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases & deaths per 100,000 for the islands as a whole & individually

For Spain it currently 78.0 cases per 100,000 & 0.2 deaths per 100,000

In Ireland the numbers are 9.2 cases & 0.2 deaths

UK's numbers are 14.1 cases & 1.3 deaths

Ireland has a green travel list, Spain is not on it so travel to Fuerteventura is difficult as I'm required to restrict movement for 14 days on return so no work, no public transport, no visitors to your home, do not visit others, no shopping unless absolutely necessary

Unless Ireland treats the Canaries separately to Spain, my late September or October trip is  off even though Ryanair are still flying & flight prices are very good at the moment

From EL PAIS English version. Figures collected from 3 different studies. Much higher than official figures.
The real COVID-19 death toll in Spain: at least 44,868 victims

Let's be honest: it's almost impossible to determine to real figures and each country has his own protocols for counting something as a 'corona-victim' or not. In the Netherlands the official figures show that a labeled corona-death is almost always (but there are of course exceptions) a person with multiple other diseases. So it's quite hard to determine which illness is the cause of death. In some countries a corona death is only counted as a person has been tested positive, in other countries is a 'possibility' enough to be counted. In the Netherlands almost all deaths are age 65+, combined with other diseases. Total percentage of deaths (all included) in 2020 is lower than 2019 and 2018.

https://allecijfers.nl/nieuws/statistiek...rona_tests (in Dutch, but google translate is always willing to help)

Let's hope op a preventive vaccine and working meds to available this year.

For countries which are dependent on tourism, Corona is a major economic disaster.

I applaud Fuerteventura for the measures taken: effective isolation of the immigrants, home isolation and recently the introduced insurance for travelers. Regarding the insurance: I can't find this on any holiday package website in NL yet. A shame, because it could help people to choose for a Canary holiday. So, some work left for the tourist office.

In contrast, just landed at Stansted a few minutes ago, masks seem optional for many and when I asked Border Force why they didn’t check my quarantine forms I was told they check 1 in 5. So don’t bother to fill one in and plead ignorance if you get stopped.
