Anyone have any idea what the highest point was from the beginning of things— i.e., March last year? I know the US and most of Europe is seeing higher numbers now than in the beginning. Is this true here also?
Captain Sensible has been posting numbers almost every day, I think if you go back to pages 25 to say 35
June /
July time '19 you find the numbers got up to the 80's / 90's mainly due to the migrants that arrived about that time.
We were very lucky up to May 24th I think the highest number of cases on the island at any one time had been 45 and then we went for a week or more with no cases at all until we had an influx of migrants.

Radio Sintonia:
The Civil Guard of the Corralejo Post and the Local Police of the same town, proceeded to evict a pub and draw up numerous reports of complaint based on the sanctioning regime, for alleged non-compliance with the prevention and containment measures against COVID-19 in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. At the current level of the island of Fuerteventura, the aforementioned place should not exceed the capacity of 25 people, presumably more than 50 individuals were found inside, as both Police forces could verify.
During the eviction, a man was detained who allegedly spat in the face of a civil guard in a surprise manner and who even tried to hit him with his own head. This person had left the premises without allegedly using the corresponding mask, making an obscene gesture to the acting force and carrying a glass bottle.
The detainee allegedly showed active resistance, for which he had to be reduced to four Police officers, causing injuries to one of them and damage to the uniform. During the transfer of the alleged perpetrator of the Events to the Police station, he struck the official vehicle with his legs, moving and removing the glass from a door.

Sounds like a nasty piece of trash.
Do we know which bar this happened at ?
Very sad that the rate of deaths has almost doubled in the last week. This really goes to show what happens when the hospitals become over-subscribed and pressure comes on from the sheer volume of numbers. A lesson to be learned here, though very tragic that lives had to be lost for it.

Over the last weekend a VV holiday villa near us was converted into fiesta central for three days. The maintenance/ cleaning staff, family and friends, seven car loads enjoyed barbecues, thumping music etc into the early hours. In fairness it affected us very little but I understand a neighbour nearer the music called the
Police several times, with no action taken. The whole group was from Puerto del Rosario.....and we wonder why their figures are going up in contrast to the rest of the island!

You don't happen to live in El Cotillo by any chance? Because this has happened to us on several occasions. So we now try to avoid Fiestas!

Very concerned by the current increase in cases that seems to be showing no signs of slowing down.
What's happening to cause this? Was there a big outbreak somewhere? Are people just being less cautious than before? What's going on? Anyone have any thoughts?

It is very worrying.
Older people are being vaccinated so it must be the younger age groups that are getting it. It's worrying that the ICU has nearly reached capacity.

I read a week or two ago that there were 2 big groups, 50+ and 40+ as results of 1 person catching at work in each case and then infecting family members.
