  Camping in Fuerteventura
Posted by: TamaraEnLaPlaya - 25-05-2019, 11:20 PM - Forum: General Discussions - Replies (3)

From RTVAC:

The summer camping period in La Oliva will run from May 29 to September 29, 2019

The application period will be on May 23 and 24 for residents, and from May 28 for all applicants

The City Council of La Oliva informs that the period of camping in the municipality, for the current year of 2019, will extend from May 29 to September 29, only in the authorized areas where the municipality serves.

The City Council of La Oliva recalls the importance of knowing and respecting the rules in the camping areas where the institution provides service, as well as in the entire terrestrial maritime public domain. The Councilor for Environment and Public Safety, Oliver Gonzalez, recalled that the payment of the deposit has been abolished to streamline the procedure and facilitate the use of the areas enabled, and that the Local Police will perform surveillance work in both areas camping and also in the rest of the coast.

Camping and application periods

• Camping period: From Wednesday, May 29 (from 2:00 p.m.) to Sunday, September 29, 2019.

• Date of applications: Days 23 and May 24 for residents in the municipality. For the rest of the applicants, from Tuesday, May 28 and throughout the authorized period.

The application period will continue open throughout the camping period.

Enabled zones

Applicants and other users of the coast are reminded that the only areas enabled to carry out the camping activity in the municipality are the four areas where the City Council of La Oliva provides services.

Three of them, Caleta Beatriz, Punta Blanca and Mariría or María Díaz, are located on the north coast, between the El Tostón Lighthouse in El Cotillo and Majanicho. The fourth zone is on the east coast, in La Caleta.

More information and requests

All the information and forms to formalize this application are available on the municipal website, www.laoliva.es, in the section of Procedures and Documentation. Link to 'Procedures and Documentation':

https://laoliva.es/resultado/132

Once the application has been completed, interested parties may submit it together with the rest of the documentation in the offices of the Department of the Environment of the City Council (c / Emilio Castellot, 2, La Oliva), or by e-mail to the environmental direction @ laoliva. is.

For more information, contact this department at 928861904 (ext 205).

Rules

In the four areas where the City Council provides services:

It is recalled that the dumping of contaminating substances or products is strictly forbidden both in maritime and terrestrial space. In addition, it is mandatory that all facilities (motor homes, caravans and booths) are provided with chemical baths that will be periodically emptied into a wastewater tank of the City of La Oliva. The institution will also strengthen the waste collection service.

Outside the authorized areas:

The Municipality of La Oliva recalls that the camping activity is not authorized in the municipality beyond the authorized areas, and informs of the surveillance device that the Environmental Unit of the Local Police will perform during the authorized dates.

The coastal users are informed that in the maritime terrestrial public domain (DPMT signaling) a series of regulations converge, such as the Law of Coasts, the Law of the Territory of the Canary Islands and the Municipal Ordinance on the Use of Beaches, and that the occupation of this space may involve the filing of complaints by the municipal Police (with penalties of up to 1,500 euros), as well as by other entities with competence in the matter, such as the Demarcation of Coasts or the Service of Protection of Nature (SEPRONA) of the civil Guard.

Regarding the Municipal Ordinance of Beaches, the norm specifically includes in Chapter V, 'Camping, vehicle traffic and parking on the beaches', the prohibition on parking and circulation of vehicles on the beaches, and' camps and camping of any kind or duration in all the beaches of the maritime coast of La Oliva ", understood as encamped" the installation of tents, vehicles or habitable trailers, awnings, canvas structures, and other dwellings ".

These norms are extensive to the zone of terrestrial maritime public domain, zone of easement and any other way of access to the beach or the coast.

Regarding the caravans and motorhomes, from the UMA (Environmental Unit) of the Local Police it is reminded that its parking with chocks or stabilizers is not allowed, as well as the placement of tables, chairs or any other object in the area of public domain (zone of easement transit area), except in the area that the City Council determines as authorized to carry out the camping. In addition, the presence of dogs on beaches is prohibited, except in those where expressly if allowed.

La Oliva,  May 20, 2019.

First visit since last Autumn. The place seems to be in undated with lunatics zooming around on these devices. One guy today must have been doing 40k down the cycle lane in Coralejo. A child stepping a foot off the path would have been wiped out. There is no place in a resort such as this for these lethal terrors. You can't even hear them coming

  Island seems much quieter

Just a casual observation but this trip we seem to be seeing quite a downturn in tourist numbers. It may be just because it is May & summer season hasn’t kicked off yet but in light of the dropping arrivals numbers at the airport it now seems quite evident. Hope it isn’t going to continue like this. It would be very detrimental to the islands economy & growth ☹️☹️

Anyone know what is happening with this?
It has been re-painted light blue and today there was a white van outside - I'm guessing working on the interior.
I did see an Asian looking gentleman entering the store a couple of weeks ago.

  Driving a UK registered car
Posted by: TrickyFox - 16-04-2019, 04:58 PM - Forum: Cars, cabs & roads - Replies (11)

Can anyone confirm that the rules for driving a non-Spanish registered car have changed? I understand that if you are a resident you must register a car within 30 days but that if you are non-resident you can drive a car in Spain for 6 months in any one year. On another forum it has been stated that this has changed and that it is the same (30 days/one month) for residents and non-residents alike. Someone has also said that the one month rule applies to 4WD vehicles irrespective of residential status.
